Nick this is a great video. I like you grew up fishing from Coconut Grove to Marathon. My years of growing up there were in the 40's and 50's. This was long before your dad purchased Bud and Mary's and you guys have really made it grow. We did a lot of bay side fishing around all of the islands in the 40's and 50's. Pulling large grouper and snappers from under the mangroves with hand lines. Some of the old first boats were flat bottom wooden plank boats with a 4 hp lawnmower motor with no reverse. Just start and go. I lived several years on Conch Key and Crawfished (Florida Lobster to folks now) as well as Mackerel fished. That was in the late 50's. Glad of what you guys have there but I have to admit that I miss the old Keys. Not much traffic back then,
@StanzFam4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I bet you saw some amazing fishing back then! I know the Keys have changed a lot in my lifetime, I can’t imagine it back in the 50’s
@carlasbury80454 жыл бұрын
@@StanzFam yes. I remember Bud and Mary's from the 40's when it was new. Have caught many fish on Alligator Reef. Crawfish under just about every rock. Not to big a deal to catch a 200 - 300 pound Jew Fish off of that reef. It happened every year. I know that you knew Ralph Delph. He and I went to school together in Miami. He took his first fishing trip with my dad in Biscayne Bay catching sand-perch drifting and using a hand line. We were probably 6 years old at the time. We went big time when we got our first spinning tackle. Miss my Keys please keep them beautiful.
