I am amazed at the fact that these bull sharks are so docile. I know that most sharks aren't aggressive but bull sharks have always been an exception in that area due to the ridiculously high levels of testosterone in their blood. Now I'm seeing that even bull sharks can be docile in some scenarios. Glad I decided to look up "Friendly Bull Shark" which, up until this point, I had seen as an oxymoron.

I wonder if they are 'more dangerous' or if their bites 'numbers' are because of the type of murky water they sometimes inhabit, thus mistaken identity? I swam with some yesterday on a reef and did so all of last year. But I was spooked yesterday and afraid the abundance of bait fish would surround me and a shark would possibly swim thru and get me without ever even seeing me. And there were a lot of shark. Headed out today again, wishing a had a partner with me.

Dived with Bull Sharks in Playa del Carmen last week. Awesome animals and amazing feeling! We didn't feed them but being fed by other divers in the area I understand why they were checking us. Don't believe they're man eaters either. But you have to be carefull like you have to be carefull with a large dog that you don't know...
@SecretAgentBartFargo6 жыл бұрын
Tiago Caravana The bull sharks in tourist areas learn that humans feed them and they behave differently than bull sharks not exposed to humans. My father has told me stories from his trips to Fiji, where sharks are loved and cared for. The Fijians believe that their dead ancestors inhabit the souls of the sharks. Anyways, the natives have been feeding and petting the bull and tiger sharks out there for many generations and as a result, they can get the sharks to come to them by calling out and singing to them. The sharks allow the natives to hold and feed them.

@@BlueWorldTV Thanks I need to check those out! What I meant was more along the lines of how sharks seize you up underwater, how to not be perceived as a threat, how they establish dominance (swimming above them, have heard something along those lines not sure how accurate it is), how to not seem passive but also not a threat like waving your arms about, like you know general diving with sharks etiquette :) or what to do if you accidentally happen to encounter a curious shark whilst swimming in open water that kind of thing.

Oceanic Whitetip sharks are actually the most dangerous. They're the ones that show up when a ship sinks, and kill more people than all others combined.
@codycoker55356 жыл бұрын
Steven Bowers yes that is very true but the bull shark is seen as more dangerous to people because they do live in fresh water meaning they do come in contact with us more often and have the biggest bite force of any shark. But I do agree with you that in the end the white tip oceanic is a more... bold and agreseve to anything they come across including us. Still wonderful creatures
@BeatlesLoveFrieden6 жыл бұрын
When a ship sinks? Chills just reading that! Can you explain a bit more?
@blazingfury265 жыл бұрын
@@BeatlesLoveFrieden i think it was the USS Indianapolis during the 2nd WW it sank and the crew were drifting on wreckage and their life vests for a couple of days. Eventually the weaker ones were caught by oceanic white tip sharks. The thing with those sharks is that they are ocean crossers hence the name. In the open ocean there is little to no food at all so they will be more hungry and opurtunistic. They have been seen following a pod of pilot Whales and eating their poop for nourishment.

Jonathan. I'm a new subscriber and I'm really interested in marine biology. It's soon to be my major, and I'm wondering about tonic immobility! I've read up on it and how when you rub the underside of a sharks nose, there a receptors that allow the shark to go into a trance once rubbed. I'm planning on studying tonic immobility for my doctorate, and I wanted to know if there's anything about it that really hasn't been discovered yet. Do we know what it is about the receptors that causes tonic immobility? Does the aggression within certain species of sharks affect the precision of tonic immobility? Or maybe is there another way to activate the same outcome that comes through rubbing a sharks receptors? Thanks for these videos! You're an inspiration to us all. :)
