To me at least, it's complicated because one the one hand an attack from a dog is no joke, but on the other hand the girl and her friends were trespassing with intent to rob and possibly injure a blind man, so the dog is really just protecting his home and owner. But then again the guy is a horrible person (I won't give away any spoilers), so yeah there's really no true good guys in this movie.
