I'm sorry Grace, but for the first time in a long time, I have to whole heartedly disagree with you on this one. The movie was fun, silly, and imo just the right amount of action. My best way to describe this movie would be if Bad Luck had a dance with Comple Coincidence. My theater loved it, and I would happily recommend it to anyone who just wants a good time.

Watched the movie last night and I agree with a lot of what she's saying. Brad Pitt killed it, but the out of order storytelling and random short scenes sprinkled in (i.e. fiji water) was too much and made the movie longer than it needed to be. Writing wasn't good enough for all that.

I absolutely LOVED the twins, and if I were one of the writers I would find some way to make a sequel with the two of them. I agree that the fight scenes and overall cinematography could have been much better. Also, they did underuse a lot of the actors in this film. Overall I would give it a strong 8.5/10!

Women in movies don’t represent the women in society. It’s weird for you to be waiting on a female to show up to be strong and beautiful and likable and on and on. I’m sure there are plenty of despicable actions & attitudes by multiple males in the movie too. They are characters.

Too many modern writers think that super unlikeable female characters are the only way to write interesting female characters, and it's the opposite. It's a trope that's repeated time and time again, and it's just as shallow as the caricatures of women during the old days when they were written only as love interests for men. Women deserve to be written, and viewed, as fully rounded people with flaws AND positives. Characters don't _need_ to be likable, but they _do_ need to be interesting. Being unpleasant isn't a shorthand for that.
@BeyondTheTrailer
@BeyondTheTrailer 2 жыл бұрын
Well said.
@TheAk1292
@TheAk1292 2 жыл бұрын
I agree with you Jade. But the question is which trope do you prefer. The one Grace talks about, or the one that is currently in fashion? The one where men are the cause of all problems and women are almost flawless. Because there hasn't been much of a choice over the past decade. If Grace is right about this movie then fair enough, and she would be right in her condemnation. But this would be a rarity in Hollywood where Man=Bad is still the defacto standard. I am a subscriber coz Grace does good work, but I would like to see Grace get "equally" animated about that issue then I might take her more seriously on this one.

She's a villain, and a pretty competent, formidable one at that! There weren't many female characters, but none of the ones that are included ever felt like they were "bad for women"??? They were all very competent and they all showed real agency. Not every female character needs to be likeable. However, she totally failed to bring up the Handler, whom I found extremely likeable!

7:10 i am willing to believe it’s possible for someone to hang on the the back of the train and break the window, but apparently that doesn’t trigger any sensors/alarms, IN JAPAN!? And the train company JR is not aware of what’s happening in that train? There’s no staff, no security, no cameras, no alarms, etc.

I did think the train would have CCTV, but if you think that every action and spy movie would be ruined.

I'm pretty much that "blessed soul". I don't spend a lot of time on social media (its so toxic). I come here more than anywhere else for movie news, so I avoid most of the spoilers and go into most movies blind outside of hearing peoples general opinions in reviews like this. I really like to go into a movie or a good game basically blind, so everything is new and fresh and without expectation as much as possible.

Avengers Endgame had maybe the best trailer ever. Why don't they make it a rule that you put stuff in the trailer from the first fifteen minutes only. You don't have to sell the whole movie, just enough to make the ppl interested to know more and show up Btw loved the not so subtle shade towards Sony making a Kraven movie😂

I'm really sorry but I have to be honest. The fact that that you say people who don't care about social justice are soulless, and then to remember your laughter when a person is chained up and stripped naked in front of a large audience... It really does make me sick to my stomach. Laughing because of the size of their sexual organs is no excuse btw. If you expect people to take you seriously maybe show some semblance of consistency.

‘A time when women are being targeted by society’ ummm what? Care to explain what you mean by that? If anything things are becoming more and more female centric in society e.g. the direction the MCU is going.
