I saw it this morning on Christmas Day & was so moved, I teared up by the end. Eggers is just a legend. I loved this movie, for it made my gothic horror heart very happy.

You nailed my problem with the entire movie...the character of Orlak doesn't bring anything remotely new to the table and conceptually he just doesn't make an impression. Everything else about the movie is great, but the main villain, to me, leaves a lot to be desired and that's a no-no when it comes to these types of movies.

I personally didn't like the film. There was no horror factor just metaphors and symbolism. Maybe I'm desensitisated or not into the time period setting. The Last Voyage of The Diameter releases last year was better

There may be some recency bias at play, as I JUST got out of a screening, but Egger's Nosferatu may well be the best version of the Dracula tale ever put to film! So beautifully and expertly crafted.. Hands down, my favorite film of the year! (I love the Christmas release date! It harkens back to the Victorian tradition of telling ghost stories around the fire at Christmas)

Just saw this last night in IMAX here in la to a surprisingly packed theater, I can honestly say Nosferatu was a banger movie. metal as fuck renaissance oil painting of a film. 10 out of 10. No notes. Easily top 2 of this year after Dune.
