I know a lot of people oppose the Bullet Train project in India and I understand it but I feel we need atleast one such project to give us the confidence that we can actually do it also our civil engineers will learn a lot in the process .... Why is this impression of keeping different service classes on trains being conveyed as classist? Thr classes are not meant to classify or segregrate or divide people or to maintain distance among leople but to provide option of different service standards/anenities according to commiters' purchasing capacity or budget. The railways have to bear operational expenses and make some profit as well for investment back into the railways system for technological improvement, modernisation efforts and hence it is quite just to offer classes with some extra amenities for higher prices for those who can afford in order to earn some extra revenue whilst keeping areangement of classes without those extra amenities at lower pricing for those who can not afford or may not need to cater to their demand of safe, secure and fast transportation as well, thus making railways affordable and accessible to dofferent incone groups.

The problem is these trains should be produced in India, technology transfer should be done. Unless or untill we completely indigenise the technology like china has done, it will always be costly to procure from others.

@@idzkk bro it's not about becoming rich. It's about distribution of richness among people. How we can facilitate a common man to ride on bullet train. Gini index of Japan is 31 which shows high level of income parity among people. Income inequality of Japan is on lower side. In India this is not the case. Gini index of India is 41 which shows higher income inequality than Japan. Bullet train will be very good for India. Any public facility project built on public money should be at such cost that it is accessible to all, not to a few.

These are exclusive tracks for exclusive trains for expensive tickets. Who can afford this on a regular basis. Air Flights are faster, cheaper and more cost effective. Even the Vande Bharat has hardly any great time saving after paying such heavy prices, that too at the cost of slowing (overtaking) the other existing trains. See the aad situation in many of the states, 3 months and still on Wait List. We need more mass-transit NOT fancy travel options as a Nation !
