Great meeting you today. I'm going to start working on my TI this week. Hope to run into you at Jordan Lake again soon.

Some of what you see in this video isn't necessary unless you sail in very heavy air.

Have several AI's and just got an older TI. Just completed the gudgeon repair that you recommended. Thank you for the suggestion.

Why not tape sandpaper to the mounting surface itself?
@javiercorreapr99777 ай бұрын
at 3:30 , I've done the same, tape the sandpaper to the surface itself provides the true shape 👍

This video is still relevant! Thank you!

I know this video was made many years ago and has been seen over 30k times but as far as "Shaping the Gudgeon" goes... 01:15 Put the sandpaper right on the stern of the boat and shape it to the boat itself. 06:03 Save a lot of cash and just run a line from the front of the outriggers to the bow of the boat. Your idea might interfere with using your paddle or the brace might damage the trampoline.
@TomKirkman12 ай бұрын
You could do that but it will take longer because you don't have the same sanding stroke length.

So 10 years later are you still happy with the double AKA brace setup? Or have you found a better method?

try the round end of a electric 3-4" belt sander, could work ? thanks for your vid's

The gudgeon deal is really embarrassing for Hobie.

Where did you get this wonderful compass you have there?

Why didn't you tape the sandpaper to the transom of the hull and use the actual of the boat instead of a paint can
@TomKirkman17 жыл бұрын
Easier to work on the table and the paint can allows a longer stroke.

Good tip...will do... BTW, I see a Wind Ryder there too. May I ask which two boats you like best? For sailing or fishing?
@TomKirkman15 жыл бұрын
Very different boats. For fishing, the TI due to the Mirage Drive.

limiting straps to stop being mangled in the face when breaking?

Just watched your video. Im about to purchase a 2020 TI. Did hobie fix these prolems? Thanks.
@TomKirkman14 жыл бұрын
These weren't "problems" per se - they are just ways to make a very good boat even better.

could a guy try to fly a 2 stringed kite in the TI for fun, as I see these kites are crazy active, thinking to not set up the mast and paddle out a bit and then use kite, or use a smaller kite that is used kite surfing

Why didn't you tape the sand paper to the surface it is mounting to for shaping?
@TomKirkman15 жыл бұрын
The stroke length is too short.

what is this black knob on the TI? I once opened a little and there was air pressure inside. is this normal?
@TomKirkman13 ай бұрын
Sounds like pressure build-up in the hull or amas.

Maybe tape sandpaper to stern instead of paint can?
@TomKirkman16 ай бұрын
The paint can allows for a longer sanding stroke. But you can use the stern if you like.

Where did you get those compases? Model number and manufacturer?
@TomKirkman17 жыл бұрын
They are Ritchie sailing models. X-Port Tactician.

Also, if you want to put tramps on it would be more difficult.

You have to decide what your priority is.
@tylerhughes52477 жыл бұрын
That is true, Depending on the weather and my intentions I leave the tramps off on rough days since I rolled it.
