Thank you so much for your excellent video I have watched it at least a dozen times so far I too have experienced a problem with the aka separating from the crossbar and I intend to use your rigging system to keep them from folding backwards! My question is what prevents them from folding forward would I need to rig an additional line to apply tension to prevent that also? Thank you so much for all that you do for the Hobie community your website is also excellent as well!!!

You mentioned the rear AKA bar come out accidently and capsizing your boat. I would have thought the diagonal brace on that bar would prevent that from happening ?

You sir are the master of Island rigging! I have a couple AI's and love them. I am in the planning stage for modding them. I'm really curious about the mod that pulls the sheet out to the side amas. Is the reasoning behind this to get better speed when the wind is behind you? Would you say this mod is now a necessity after using it? How effective is it? I still want my boats to remain somewhat simple, so I don't want to have lines everywhere if they aren't going produce noticeable results and prove useful. I am on a tight budget. Thanks for sharing!

Alistair, I have really enjoyed studying this latest video (literally, frame-by-frame). Quick question: how exactly did you mount your furling line/centerboard/main line combination to the rear crossbar? It looks like each of these 3 cleats is mounted on a single piece of metal...but from which direction and how exactly did you secure this metal piece to the crossbar? Thanks

Yes...thank you for helping me envision that better. I appreciate how your approach actually minimizes the number of permanent changes that are made to the TI. Again, it is very kind of you to help me move forward with making these modifications. I think I can take it from here now, without having to burden you with too many more questions. All the best...looking forward to seeing more of your online videos.

Alistair, with regard to the 2 stacked pulleys located under the right front crossbar (preventing the halyard lines from tangling), did you use one "double-pulley" or did you stack two individual pulleys on top of each other? I have not been able to find a double pulley unit that is arranged in that plane/direction. Also, did you use 1 or 2 self-tapping screw(s)?

on your anti capsize, is that a harken jam cleat up front taking up line on the 2:1?
@AlistairKelsall8 жыл бұрын
it is a cam cleat, doesn't matter what brand you use, Harken keeps all the cleats looking the same.

Alistair -- thanks again for the video! did you use geartrac mounts and a poly board cutout on it to mount your front cam cleat and turn block on the anti-capsize? it looks like it,but I wanted to ask before I ordered parts. this is the best video I have watched in a while!

Yep it's just 15 mm polyboard similar to cutting board
