BulletSafe VP3 Ballistic Vest "Range Test" The BulletSafe VP3 Level IIIA was tested with 9mm, .45ACP and 10mm. I was able to recover the bullets to show what exactly happened on impact. What are your thoughts on this BulletSafe ballistic vest?

Thank you for putting the vest against a solid medium it drives me crazy when people test armor and let the vest flop around. It wouldn't do that on your body.

Just bought a plate carrier and armor from Ar500. I realized it is HEAVY! This looks a little better in the weight department. I guess with armor you have a trade off with weight and protection levels.

Thanks for sharing Dan 😁👍🏽 The only problem with with soft body armor like this, is that an ice pick or knife could easily penetrate it, and being stabbed is a greater probability than being shot at. I believe there is stab proof soft body armor, but the price point is big $$$

Four pounds is a lot to carry around every day. Most bullet resistant vests have a shelf life so probably after its five year warranty its no longer effective. Many restrict movement/mobility and the added weight and its extra clothing that can overheat the body especially in warm climates. It can also be defeated by getting hit somewhere else that is vital and unprotected. I can see getting one if I knew I was going into a shooting war or for a shooting situation but not something to wear daily.
@TheFirearmGuy

Agree for the most part. The panels can be changed. The material is breathable. No doubt that daily use would be a drag. However, using in certain environments offers great benefits

Does it compromise the results by having the vest against a tree that doesn't give or allow the ballistic material to stretch and flex?
@allanbrown747
@allanbrown747 3 жыл бұрын
I was actually thinking the samething!!
@NoNo_IStay
@NoNo_IStay 3 жыл бұрын
Very little. Even a fleshy body will give quite a bit of resistance when hit with a high velocity dense object. If you've ever been cliff jumping you know how the water feels like concrete if you jump higher than 60 feet. The faster you hit the water. The less it feels like water. The vest did stop the projectiles even on the tree, so if it did affect the results you'll get more protection when wearing it.

The two most dangerous rounds to vests are civil defense and 5.7 that can be penetrated due to velocity. Vests may not stop all caliber variants even calibers listed which is why they are only bullet resistant. The term bullet proof comes from medieval armor that were tested by being shot thus "bullet proof" that it could stop a bullet.

I know you are about as solid as a tree, but most of us aren't, so there might be a little more give on us than there is on a tree. I still have an original 16mm film of Richard Davis, founder of Second Chance, shooting himself while wearing his original vest (soft body armor, not bullet proof), but no projector to view it.

@@TheFirearmGuy that was back in the early '70s, maybe even the late '60s, when no one trusted a bunch of fabric to stop a bullet. Davis figured the only way to convince police to buy and wear soft armor was to prove that it actually worked and didn't take the wearer out of the fight if he was hit. Kahr T9 is a steel framed, striker fired pistol in 9mm. It doesn't have a manual safety or a cocked hammer to dig into your side during concealed carry like a 1911 style pistol. Kahr also makes the K9 which is the compact version of the T9. Both guns come with TruGlo tritium sights from the factory. The benefit of the T9 and K9 is that they are striker fired guns so you will be used to a striker fired trigger when you finally realize steel framed pistols are silly when you could be carrying a polymer framed gun with more rounds, less weight.
