Great review Ben! I just don’t understand why Meta pushes these games out. If a game is not finished (polished) then just don’t release it! All this will do is give everyone a bad taste and the game won’t be purchased! I’m tired of unfinished games being put in the store and then waiting for an update. Excellent point. I foolishly did with this one-guess I was trigger-happy-instant regret upon playing the game. Also, on a related note, I think all games should offer a trial for their games; this would prevent all the needless refunds. I can't tell you how many refunds I've requested.

The PCVR version is the same as the Quest version, just with better res. Shadows/lighting/postprocessing from the OG game are sadly missing, even on PCVR.

Ah man, unfortunate that the Quest version of the game is poorly optimized. I'm sure that it's hard work to do this on a port more than a game that was build on the Quest from the ground up. As I have said on Steve Knows & Matteo's reviews, there seems to be this fake positivity in the VR community right now where people will hype up anything regardless of quality like it's the next God tier game. If a game/port is shit, the audience needs to know otherwise you are misinforming them and they will remember that in the future. Reputation is so important - especially in a tight knit industry like this. Unfortunately, too many VR content creators seem to think that pretending everything is amazing is somehow a good thing even if (again) that leads to disappointment and frustration. PLEASE, if a game or port is shit, tell us. Don't lie about it ffs. Or I won't trust you next time... I had really high hopes for this port and eve after your review I had hoped that the PCVR port was at least good but it clearly isn't so that sucks. I nearly preordered this one and now I'm glad I didn't.

I kind of wonder if Meta is doing VR a service or a disservice at this point with cheap standalone ARM-based headsets... There's just A LOT of exclusive development time poured into projects that tries to shoehorn great potential into under-powered hardware. Resources that could have been spent on actual premium experiences that would instead wow gamers... As a PCVR owner, every person I showcase VR to, are completely floored by the experience (high-end PC with a HP Reverb G2 showcasing HL: Alyx, Kayak Mirage VR, Assetto Corsa, Subnautica -modded, Portal2 -modded etc.). I am kind of worried that Meta, together with compromised gaming experiences make people think that VR is just a fun consumer device/toy/gimmick that will loose its appeal after a couple of years. Instead of being a huge paradigm shift in gaming.

The quest 3 is more than powerful enough for excellent VR gaming. It’s similar to having High Resolution Nintendo Switch visuals in each eye at 72hz

Can you do an updated review of this game? Apparently the Devs have released a handful of updates over the past couple of months, and now the game has been getting higher ratings on the Meta Store. Supposedly most of the bugs have been fixed, and also a graphics update that makes it look better. I'll be curious of your opinion.

I think the reason people are upset with asgard's wrath 2 is due to the fact that the first game was released on pc and thusly was able to look like it does. Having no pc alternative for the second game is kinda like spitting in the face of the fan base for the game to begin with.

The general Serrano typo was funny to me it was at the part where you took the heli and shot at the hetekan. 2:17 i am fine if it looks bad, i played it a metric crap ton on 360’ i thought it gave the game the old Xbox 360 feel, it could have used the remote control Dino level (my fav btw) but hell yeah ill play as trishka “lovely bitter” Novak. I don’t care, i had fun, i beat the hell out of people, i was happy, the metal head banging music had me going for hours. I am happy with it.

I actually like it on PCVR. The graphics still look very dated but sharp and it is a unimmersive, mindeless run and gun shooter. But it is actually what I expected from a Flat to VR port. Really like pulling the enemies close to you with the leash (working the same way as Alyx gravity gloves but on enemies) and then slicing them in half with the light blade or shotgun. A little more polish and of course all the expected settings should be available (as stick swap for left handers). But overall I enjoy it! Took a short while to get used to the guns, since they don't feel good, but the shotgun feels a lot better than the first gun.

Turning old game into vr is always a good idea since porting game to vr isn't easy at all because is more than just porting it over to different system and imagine making a AAA out of nothing and ensuring quality is too much to ask for, it is more of a gameplay upgrade where you have to make sure all the stuff worked with hands movement and head as well as remaking the mechanic to make sure everything mixed well together.

It's an unreal engine game, we literally have a mod tool now that can make hundreds of Unreal games work in VR. An actual studio of actual developers making an actual VR version of a 13 year old game should NOT have a hard time

that's a big differerence of review from the last one. Beardo seemed way more enthousiast in the sponcored vidéo. Maybe it is because I have very low expectations on standalone visuals, but they don't seem that bad. Worse than ACnexus, AW2, red matter2, that's for sure, but not so horrible. But I haven't seen it in my headset, so, I don't know Anyway I'm more interested by the pcvr, but it's not in my priorities Concerning Greenhell, I think they made psvr2 same as standalone because they plan to make crossplay for coop. There's probably much more players on standalone than pc. But Bulletstorm being single player, It's possible that the psvr2 version will be close to pcvr. We'll see

Spot-on assessment. I’m on the PSVR2 version and I doubt there’s much difference between it and the Quest 2 version. I don’t recall if you mentioned the constant black screen loading, but on PSVR2 the stretches you go between them are shockingly short. They’ve also reduced the amount of blood to something almost unnoticeable, when the 2011 game had copious amounts that made the gore an integral part of what made it fun. No character shadows is another head-scratcher, since the OG version has all of that, and it helps underscore the height of enemies as you whip them through the air. While not utterly trash, it’s deeply disappointing just as you’ve described so well here. 👍

Played this on PSVR2... different experience... the game runs well, NO slowdown at all... I also understood this was an older game, so I was ok with the graphics presented. Overall, the game was FUN, so the only major issue I had was with the PRICE... it is currently 40.00 I just think that needs to come down to 20.00 to 25.00 max.

Every game ever made has had bugs. Some more than others. It isn't any more prevalent today than it was before. At least now, studios have a more convenient way to actually fix those bugs. In the past, games simply weren't fixed.

It makes me wonder why the PSVR2 version wasn’t based upon the PCVR version though because it could leverage the PS5 hardware rather than a mobile chipset. Plus, there’s no excuse for the performance issues on quest 3. They should have dropped quest 2 support, dropped the resolution on Quest 3 using Variable resolution and upped the texture resolution because it’s basically free as far as any performance penalty.

I’ve been playing it on steam and I honestly have been enjoying it, it’s not the most immersive or realistic experience and honestly plays a lot like a dr beef port, but it’s been super fun to replay. I have forgotten about 85% of this game so it feels new , and the dialogue and cut scenes are hilarious.

It's actually not that bad. I bought it despite this review with the understanding i would refund it if i didn't like it. The original game had a level of b-movie type jank and this feels the same to me. Some of the textures are pretty low but for a VR game that is standalone it's fine and its pretty enjoyable.

@@Boobmates Before the internet they didn't release games till they were fully finished and they never gave us release date till we saw a commercial the week before it came out. Now everyone needs a release date for everything which gets everyone disappointed when it doesn't come out on time. Sometimes it would be better to go back to that so developers don't feel pressured to release the game before its done cause the mob is ready to cut there heads off for pushing the rrelease date back constantly.

by looking at Green hell Quest version from incuvo I was almost 100% that they are going to fck up bulletstorm 😢 and they did. I wonder how pc version works. Green hell on pc had really big problems with optimalisation so bulletstorm probably too. Bulletstorm was THE vr title that I was waiting for in 2024 and now I am disappointed. Unfortunately it is well known feeling for me as a VR enthusiast I feel it very often.

looks like typical Quest fare to me. First: I think we can count in our hands the amount of action-adventure linear shooters like this on Quest - probably one hand only really.
