Hello guys! Thank you so much for this. Loved to hear about your journey and all 🙏 You know me and my ramblings about Karate and so on. I just done a Boxing session and earlier the 3 months Shotokan, and was absolutely crazy happy, to start Kyokushin when I moved back to my town 🙂 Sadly things came between and I havent been there any more! Maybe will try it when things aline tho! Allways dreamed about Judo also..even tried some BJJ in the other town! Thing is, I would really love to train in a complete Karate system - as once Kyokushin was back in the day, when they did Judo and so on! So when I hear, what you want going forward. Sign me up guys. Damn it makes me so happy to hear. I will move town, to train with you guys. Karate as it was meant to be - Selfdefense, ala oldschool thats the way it should be IMHO! Keep at it and im ready 🙂🙏 OSU!!

I feel you bro. When I started doing martial arts and my friends and almost everybody that knows about it including my classmates and family with the exception of my father started making fun of me. I guess they thought that I'd be like a jocky type of guy and maybe doing something that isn't common to them is just weird for them? My classmates might have thought I was some sort of a nerd for martial arts and I'm kind of smart in school so I guess they would think that way. Ever since my teacher asked me if can demonstrate my sport which is Kickboxing my classmates used to make fun of it but that was in junior high. Things kind of changed now and I'm not just smart in school I have grades in lines if 9 and my classmates now are very open minded because senior high is like semi college here in Ph. It's kind of like a glow up because my charisma kind of increased since they knew I'm also a guitarist but I never told them I do martial arts like Yawyan and Muay Thai and I'm also pretty popular in our campus. Back in junior high when you're good in English you're viewed as somewhat weak or something like that in the eyes of people that think they're better than you in terms of just strength and local popularity. Now that people are mixed in SH I see people that are like them but they're struggling to fit in because they're very close minded. In my school now there are some like them but they are forced to change their ways. I'm also planning to move to south Korea maybe in or before college it's one of my biggest dreams because of the safe environment and gaming. The opportunities are limitless. I'm just 16 and I'm still trynna find ways to make money so I can make my parents proud and prepare for the future.

Nice to formally meet you both. Especially since you're videos have helped in practicing my techniques(kicks mainly). One question, what made you choose Shidokan over Kudo/Daido Juku?
@SaikouKarate
@SaikouKarate 7 ай бұрын
Thank you 🙏 Kudo has a very cool sparring rules (and we do something similar quite often) but the removal of kata is in my opinion not a good thing. There is a lot to get out of properly trained kata and bunkai training, especially for those who are interested in the self-defence aspect rather than only pure kumite. Shidokan has, in my opinion, a fantastic blend between these traditional karate aspects, modern training methods and kumite and they all complement each other.

@@SaikouKarate Awesome to hear and it sounds more like Okinawan was back in the day - Oldschool selfdefense Karate and who also was Kyokushin from the beginning - atleast what I heard. And Mas was about to bring it all once again! Well atleast that whats he said in the link I linked here earlier etc...! Karate without Kata, doesn't sound like Karate to me IMHO, as it's one big component IMHO - again. Both from an inner (philosophical) perspective - meditation and growth and so on, besides the selfdefense aspect, you mention 🙂 Karate is so much more vs Kickboxing /Boxing. If one not like Kata, then theres just that - Box and wrestle and just that Alone doesn't speak well, at all to me - besides hell of a good workout I guess, but I have the regular Gym, just for that, if I want to 😉

You guys are right, there is a gap to be filled on youtube. You guys are like the Jesse Enkamp of full contact karate. I just happened to graduate with an engineering degree and am working currently so I understand the struggle of training and studying multiple martial arts. I'm actually surprised you guys could find the time to train so much and gain so much experience at such a young age (I assume you guys are around my age). I had to quit Judo and Kyokushin, but hopefully I will resume those activities because I made alot of progress. Currently I am focusing on Aikido due to injuries. I used to game too so that is yet another thing we have in common hahaha.
@SaikouKarate
@SaikouKarate 7 ай бұрын
That’s nice of you to say 🙏 For sure it’s not easy time-wise, but training from such a young age it has become the normal and not training for an extended amount of time feels very bad, so finding motivation isn’t too hard! That’s cool, hope your injuries get better soon and you can incorporate your Aikido training into whatever you do next! 🥋 Gaming for life 🤓🎮
