These ladies (and gentleman) and their families were part of the “greatest generation.” They defended our freedoms in war, built the great buildings and founded and run companies who gave prosperity to millions of Americans.

As wonderful as it was that Southwestern saved it, it is almost worse to see it in this cold emptiness. The current tea room in no way resembles the warmth and beauty of what was once there. I question what kind of a city would require a law school to save a building of such magnificence.

+D elderful I remember how elegant, beautiful and also what a treat it was to be able to shop or just even walk through Bullock's. I think the demise of this beautiful relic was the construction of Shopping Malls in the suburban areas of Los Angeles.

This closure happened a year after the LA riots destroyed all of the first floor display cases in this building. I wonder if that had anything to do with its quick closure after that.
@danielleporter18293 жыл бұрын
I'm sure the closure was in the works way before the riots (I was ten yrs old when the riots occurred) the riots probably played a very small role in the closure. My mom shopped at Bullocks Wilshire and I Magnam.

@@ms.martiegallego8834 First of all, there were a lot fewer 'people of color' around as a proportion of the population in 1993. Second, you wouldn't expect white people (or black people) at a Selina concert back then. Just because mostly white people enjoy something doesn't make it bad.
