I have a sniper! The new version (2 lids instead of 3 and is out of 90 not 60) for about a month now and i love it!!

I wanted to get the sniper but ended up with a eureka mignon. Still would love to add one because the look and feel of their products are great. I do agree their branding is aggressive, but I’ve been fortunate enough to recently start collaborating with them and they are extremely nice and cool to work with. As someone who doesn’t have a big channel I appreciate them working with newbies! Between them and normcore their wood and black finish fit my setup perfectly and I’m very happy I went with their line of products.

A lot of their stuff is really beautiful and well made but yes, that branding! Personally, I don't mind the plane logo, actually I think it looks kind of cool, but the whole "mhw-3bomber" stamp all over the place is ugly AF. And just to add to the quirkiness of the brand, apparently the "mhw" stands for "make hearts warm"...

This to me is in the same vein as the Varia VS3, the Starseeker Edge, and the Lagom Mini. All are 48mm conicals with Comandante-esque clarity forward geometries, and rotate at lower RPMs. I basically think of them all as motorized handgrinders. This one seems fine but i don't know if it justifies being the most expensive grinder in this class

For the price I'd buy the Starseeker edge before this one. Both the same with small differences. MHW angled shoot and Starseeker is vertical. But the $100 difference for the same performance is what would make me buy the starseeker.

What I was told “MHW stands for Make heart warm. There are three founders, each of whom has different responsibilities, so the brand name contains 3. The founders believed in the Wright brothers and wanted to make a brand-new product to sensationalize the entire coffee industry. This is why it was named Bomber. That is MHW-3BOMBER.”

Great review! It really makes me wonder why there are so few reviews of Chinese coffee brand accessories and machines. As for MHW-3BOMBER I've just ordered their most recent hand grinder model, the Blade R3 (featuring a 48mm burr) which at least on paper looks awsome and it seems it can stand on a par with much more expensive models. Whats really interesting though is that it comes with a very unique feature of adding a sieve or mesh to the bottom so you can filter out any extremey fine particles. And all this for 77 Euros (discount price) !! Cant wait to test it

Thanks for the review. Super interesting, didn't know that conical burrs were measured as such. A little background about MHW-3Bomber. They started off as a pitcher manufacturer, and actually got their fame, as many latte art champions used their pitchers in competitions and what not. Over the last year, it looks like they are venturing into EVERYTHING coffee. Like what you said, not too sure if its a good thing or bad, but it definitely leaves you intrigued with this brand. In Asia, I would assume MHW-3Bomber is more popular, but I think it's making its way over the Atlantic Ocean

I have a SD-40 wich i replaced for the Sniper. The sniper gives me more clarity and a better adjustment system, but the SD-40 had an apparently stronger mottor. I enjoy the looks of the sniper more as well and both are well built, pretty robust. I'm very happy with mine for espresso, but only time will tell the motor longevity.

How do you compare the Sniper's taste profile with ZP6 48mm burr set? Can you also compare if the taste profile is somehow close to SSP HU burrs?

Hey Daddy. I am looking for a new grinder. I want a flat burr grinder, that should not take up too much space (although, I can be flexible), and I am not too sure of what to get. Currently, my setup is the Profitec Go with 1Zpresso J-Max. I have been looking at the DF64 Gen 2, but I am worried it will be "underkill" for my machine, and I'd like not to upgrade my grinder for a while? I have also briefly looked at the Niche Duo, but I hate the idea of retention, and the Ionizer + bellow seems to fix that on the DF. I am still fairly new to espresso (about 9 months in the hobby), and 99% of the time it's espresso I am making, so the grinder should be (more or less) solely for that. Do you have any recommendations? In multiple price-ranges? Thank you so much

Nice review, but between my Niche Zero, and the Timore 078 on order, it doesn't fill any gaps for me. It is nice that there are so many choices these days for nice grinders.

The burrs look like as on (my) 1zpresso K-max. I'd say the filter profile matches my experience with my hand grinder. The biggest surprise with your review is the noise level - 74 dB is quite quiet compared to the competition - DF64 Gen 2 can go as loud as 94 dB if I remember correctly? I think from this perspective it is worth its price.

Yes the df64 g2 is the loudest grinder I have tested! This one is much quieter due to both using conicals and a much slower rpm. Definitely one of the nice things about this grinder!

I was curious about this. So happy with my Niche Zero though I'm glad I splurged. Have you seen the Introvert Makes Niche Bellows? Super classy and fits in really well. Every time I empty a bag I puff out the grinder. I started to take it apart and clean it once and in 4 months there was basically nothing to clean! Never fully cleaned my Niche and I have no significant retention. I plan on tearing it down and wiping it out before Thanksgiving at this point.

@DaddyGotCoffee and his final version is made out of this really really nice silicone. Thick enough it has a good resilience but thin enough it's not chunky or bulky. Really easy to wash when you get garbage on it cuz you lay it on your kitchen counter and forget to put it away haha. It feels really high-end too, which I didn't expect.

I actually couldn’t disagree more. As an advertising professional for more than 11 years their brand stands out in an extremely crowded space. It sparks conversations and creates interesting opportunities for them, even to the point of creating intrigue and mystery. All of those elements are absolutely key to sparking curiosity and they leverage a key psychological element of human behavior to make it work for them. No doubt the branding is strange, but it works and the way they penetrated the market so quickly shows that it worked quite well. Just my .02

@@ZacharyPinder I live in coffee, tech and aerospace manufacturing country: Seattle. This branding is strikingly on point. That said, I am 100% ordering this grinder to feed my black and walnut Ascaso Steel Duo. I would appreciate some restraint around the branding...maybe stick with the icon part, leave the walnut lid alone ala Weber's simple and recognizable WW?

Sniper vs Baratza Sette 270? Who's the winner? ☕
@mikflores

Oh man. That clip at 11:06 is hilarious and a bit telling about a company that’s not that mature. Any larger manufacturer like baratza or fellow would never allow the burrs to operate while exposed. For a consumer product it’s a bit sketchy. Yeah commercial grinders allow it, but they expect a bit more experienced user base. Fascinating.

I have my eye on a few bomber products but the plasyered logo really does make me second guess things, however the quality for the price does seem to fit. In the same vein, im curious if youve heard of the MiiCoffee Apex espresso machine or if your be doing a review or anything? It appears to be aimed right in between the Rancilio Silva and Gaggia for price point but the fit and finish appears higher than the price. Its a very compelling product ij a few ways to me, so maybe you'll be just as intrigued. Great video on the Sniper btw ✌️

I'm confused why ppl are comparing this to a Varia VS3, but not mentioning how it's a blatant ripoff of said VS3. You could've done that exact same voiceover, minus the airplane talk, while sitting behind a VS3, and all the points would've stood. The design, the material, the magnetics, the burr size, the DC motor, the big honking power supply, etc etc etc. Am I missing something?

Constantly see the brand on instagram and Amazon but could never get past the name and branding to justify a purchase. No matter how legitimate they are It just screams cheap Amazon undercutter "brand". But hey, if they keep making quality products maybe it will soon be a household name!

I agree with others, the branding is aggressive and ugly however the products are quite well built. Im just ashamed to show them off because of the brand... For the record i do have some of their gear, some normcore gear and a mignon specialita to complement my Lelit Elizabeth.

I’ve been so confused about the branding. Even if the name was more coherent, I would feel uncomfortable with the aggressive military persona. The fit and finish looks nice, but it feels like there are similar alternatives to all of their products from companies that have less polarizing branding. Like you mentioned here, if I were in the market for a grinder like this, my first choice would be the Lagom Mini, and this just doesn’t feel like there’s any advantage to the Sniper unless you specifically want this design and branding.

Chinese / chinglish naming in a nutshell. They likely didn't consult with a common sense english branding / media company when starting the company (or... consulted with one *claiming* to be that, but cheaper...) but then now want their logo on absolutely everything, because standing out from the crowd in the Chinese consumer market is everything. You're competing against a pack of wolves who will copy every single product you make. Having your brand name absolutely *seared* into people's minds is your only chance at repeat customers. And I wouldn't call them above copying others either. They've clearly done so when its made sense to them (and in an environment where IP rights are a mere suggestion). Looking at that grinder, it would be nice if it came with a magnetic "riser" platform for the base so you could then put your own dosing cup, presumably without so much height needed.
