But theres solid ground under the cattle stop. They just walk right over it. Or break their legs getting tangled up in the gate

I can see some doughball Right-of-way thingys breaking a leg trying to climb over it and getting caught between the bars. Pity - 'cos its a simple idea - does it not spring up between the axles and catch the body/chassis or cultivator tines?

Not designed as a security gate. The usual use is for central irrigator systems so a human isn't required to open and close gates for the slow moving machine. Also means gates are not left open. It is designed for short wheel base vehicles so that by the time the front wheels are off the gate the back ones are on it keeping it flat until you have driven over it. It works great and those that have it love it.

so if you have calves chasing you from when you have finished feeding them they all get knocked out from the gate hitting them in the head. also the cattle will put on them and break out

The gate is for farmers to save time between fields not to keep people out and most likely cows won't push on it to get out.

Andy Galbraith if cattle did try walk over it their legs would become stuck in the gaps while it’s trying to fling back up

Lot of keyboard warriors on here saying this is a stupid idea. Looks sensible and pragmatic to me. I suspect this has been well tested by ACTUAL farmers. The internet 2019: everyone is an expert 🙄
