I don't get it: Why would the threat of police make Magnus the escapologist do his act? I'm no law expert, but I'm 100% certain the police can't arrest you for canceling a performance, especially one that endangers your pregnant wife. At the very least, it would be a civil case over breach of contract. One that would likely be ruled in the couple's favor given the circumstances.

It boggles my mind. They are both based upon the book, but there are still differences between what was in the book, from both movies. In the book, first she puts glue into the hat, then she hides a parrot in the chimney to pretend there is a ghost, then she puts peroxide in his hair oil. And some other things are different in each movie to the book, and somethings I prefer in the movies to the book, like Hortensia in both movies (the Red Beret girl in the musical), compared to how she was in the book.

This was my life with my bio-mother 😅 and my 5th grade teacher. I couldn't catch a break! Imagine being 10 yo & not allowed to read @ home bcs yr teacher said you distracted the class by reading instead of doing yr work! And it wasn't even true! I only read in class bcs I was usually done before my classmates, so I'd get bored, and the rule was that if you finished early you could get up, quietly!, and go to the reading corner to read. And it's what I'd do. She also didn't like that I was taken out of her class for English & Math to attend with the 8th graders. My bio-mother didn't question the why, she was just embarrassed to know I was in trouble. This movie summary 😢.

They didn't remake it, the new movie is based off of the 2010 musical which is only based on the book. Also, to say that the old movie is perfect is a stretch, especially since it's supposed to be based off of a book. Also, the whole story of Matilda isn't supposed to be happy and it's supposed to be weird, it's a Roald Dahl book.

In real life, the school's Headmaster would be fired and jailed for maltreatment and child endangerment against her students. She's no different than the nuns and priests that ran Canada's native residential schools where children were subjected to cruel and inhumane treatment for practicing their indigenous cultures. Matilda's parents are just as guilty for their fascist type attitude in punishing her for having knowledge.

This is why it is like my most hated teachers I had at Oshawa Ontario Harmony Road Public School making such verbal and physical abusive threats, insults and accusations, even at my most other hated school R.A. Hutchinson Public School. These two schools are a big living nightmare causes me so much outrage and disruptiveness repeatedly, the DDSB never took further actions terminating Leslie Daniels, Mrs. C Finland and Jane Spencer all made my life a living hell repeatedly, even with such harassment, belittlement, intimidation, infringement, and transgression.
