I appreciate you taking the time to share this with all of us. Being a public servant as a police officer and as a school teacher, most people outside of this realm have no idea how we have been bullied by our supervisors into taking action that demeans our character. Unfortunately because we are all human we are going to make mistakes. I did my best to apologize when my actions or demeanor went beyond what was professional. Basic laws of egress and regress did not typically get taught to us and or boundary markings which separates what is public property versus private property. Unless this type of information is taught and retaught, it is easy to overstep our boundaries. I am not excusing the actions of the primary officer here at all. I agree that he should have been man enough to apologize for his actions. If that had taken place, I would have been satisfied. As was pointed out, thankfully there was a sergeant who showed up and recognized a teachable moment and responded appropriately. Remember the good cops far outnumber the bad ones. It is unfortunate that there are way too many officers who don’t try to put themselves into the shoes of those with whom they are speaking. Remember they are primarily exposed to people who lie, cheat and steal. Sometimes it is a difficult mind shift to go away from that type of encounter to the one shown here. I think forgiveness on both sides would result in this type of behavior becoming less and less. I clearly recognize that everyone who reads my comments may not agree. Remember also, that there is only one man who was perfect, who committed no crimes yet he was nailed to a tree. We would all do much better if we sought to imitate his actions towards all mankind.

@5:00 One thing I've noticed, when citizens don't use the "correct" words, the LEOs act stupid. My guess is that they know if they go to court, judge will have their back and will claim the LEO never gave orders, and that the citizens were the confused ones. If the guys video recording would have said "this is a public easement, it actually runs x amount of feet from the center line of the road. In fact all the light and electric poles are on this public easement, which is public regardless if it has grass or concrete". But at the end of the day, one shouldn't have to know the "right words" or the "legal" terms. Is there a sidewalk there? NO, but does that make it private property? NO!
