Very sleek and athletic dog. Great apbt specimen. It is true that working your dog evens out their keel if the dog wasn't even keel. With the work comes confidence, also socialization (since most of the time, other people and dogs are in the mix), and of course, it's keeping the dog in shape and everything is better when healthy.

Another fine video. While these hounds are more suited for catch work, baiting, ratting, etc., they have historically done, I personally am okay with seing them being used for work like this as long as they are not being selectively bred for it.

Why?? An American Pitbull Terrier bred for protection and guarding would be the perfect dog man!
@Swell_Character
@Swell_Character 3 жыл бұрын
@@kabir1557I for one would be against them being bred for it because protection work goes against the breed and its character. Usually, protection and guard dogs are suspicious/wary of strangers and people they are not as well acquainted with. It makes sense when a strange fellow could be a potential thief or threat to the dog's master. In contrast, bulldogs are generally friendly and trusting with even strangers to the point that some would let you walk up and take them from their yard with no trouble. This is important when one fellow has to trust that when he goes in to get hold of a catch dog that is not his who is gripping onto a hog, that dog will not then turn around and bite him.
@kabir1557
@kabir1557 3 жыл бұрын
@@Swell_Character but pitbulls would be one of the best guard dogs if bred for temperment. They have all the qualities for being one except the temperment. Why can't they be guard dogs and catch dogs as well? Also tbh people need guard dogs more than catch dogs ngl.

The relationship between man and apbt is so special and I don't think any other breed is so sweet and friendly to their owners and stranger's...this kind of training to teach them to bite seems to go against what I love about apbt. This breed already has to share its breed with mutts from shelters so do we really need to be teaching them to bite?

Whats wrong is the disaster what americans have done to great dogs including the legendary German breeds like Rotts, dobmerman, G.Shepherd...making a mess out of what they were bred to do because of your ideas of "oh no oh no...this is what a dog should be like...oh no they need to be socialised to..bla bla bla.."

@spots8060
@spots8060 3 жыл бұрын
They were never a nanny dog. Stop spreading this BS. They have animal aggression genetically and pitbulls shouldn't be pets. They are hog hunters or protection dogs. Work them or give them to someone who will. Don't get this dog for your family, get a lab.
@balaknwl8534
@balaknwl8534 3 жыл бұрын
@@spots8060 they actually aren't suited for protection work because they don't have a natural aggression towards people. And they're kind of hit n miss on hog hunting, see animal aggression means they aren't really team players. But you can find some good ones that will stay focused. I think they're better on rabbits and foxes though and even field rats and feral cats get them going if there's nothing else to do. If you're going to tell people they're spreading bs do some homework.
@iamhowiam2862
@iamhowiam2862 3 жыл бұрын
@@spots8060 they were bread to be working dogs and fighting dogs, but if you knew more of the history instead of just stopping at what the media likes to focus on, you would know that they were carefully selected to not be aggressive towards humans. Just like raising one with a cat, it also depends on how you raise them. You know, the nature vs nurture deal? Anyways, I raised them as a kid into my adulthood around other animals, chickens, cats, and they could go around other dogs and always had them around all of my friends and never once had a problem. To be honest, the poodle down the street was most vicious always trying to sneak a bite over the fence and barking up a storm
@jesuisunepommedeterre4662
@jesuisunepommedeterre4662 3 жыл бұрын
@@spots8060 Yeah they were never nanny dogs. However, if you buy and raise them like a working dogs then tend to make better family pets than breeds more commonly seen in bite work. Honestly most dog labeled as pit bulls are watered down and the biggest wusses but very friendly dogs nonetheless. I don’t love this “breed”, but I still like to be unbiased when talking about them.

@@iamhowiam2862 no you don't understand how bloodlines work. I'm a professional dog trainer and love pitbulls. There are pet bloodlines and working bloodlines. Honestly, as much as i find it entertaining to watch, i'm always dubious about training dogs to bite, especially dogs with an already bad rap like pits. I mean, i understand why people do this, but i'm pretty sure most people have no real use for this training and end up with a dog that must be even more carefully watched than before because if the dog misunderstand a situation now he is trained to bite. Might be wrong tho but still, am pretty sure that most people who do this training don't need it.

@SheilaG971 3 жыл бұрын
When properly bred and properly trained, this kind of bite work allows these dogs to release a lot of energy and they are also required to be extremely obedient. That combo make this an excellent outlet for a dog like this as long as they also have a sound temperament.
@baldurivar
@baldurivar Жыл бұрын
I understand what you’re saying but this breed needs to have a job, and this sport gives them so much mentality and physically I say they are better off and less liability doing this this type of work than a dog without a job, but of course it doesn’t have to be protection work but any job or sport is a must for the breed.
@msobic

totally against using game bred APBT for protection work. it is insane.It is a weapon. This ego trip of trying to show a pit bull can do protection is essentially playing russian roulette. But hey a high content wolf dog can be as lovely as a Labrador right? There are breeds that have been specifically bred for this type of work. For all those that think I am wrong... go listen /watch the video with Diane Jessup. QED
