I’ve got this in walnut stain. I love it, sounds great, frets are great, it, I’ve been performing out with it since March 2023. I took it out of the box, tuned it, polished it a little and no problems at all. Yes the neck dives annoying, the tuners could be better but it’s overall performance, build and sound is fantastic. The neck is very fast, slim and so easy to play. It’s also very light. Got mine from Sweet water and was checked over. Highly recommend it as I now have 4 Fender Jazz basses that I’ve retired.

I’ve read somewhere you really can’t slap with it. Well Pilgrim I bought the Vox Bass 2 foot pedal. Between the guitar and pedal it’s unreal. I use the Fender V-3 500 combo and Fender 15” bottom out. I use the Fender 25 watt practice bass combo home. You don’t have to believe me but it’s AAA-OK in my book.

Bully that pink bass looks FIRE. I'd buy one of those in that color because it's different. They need to come out with a short scale semi-hollow body arch top that can be played unplugged or for practice

I wasn’t sure how to feel about mine at first but after some messing around I found that turning down the low mids kind of slims down that tubby vibe the pickups have. I’m really digging it now. Awesome demo as always.

Thanks a heap for this video. I am a guitarist by trade. I do a lot of my own bass tracks in my home studio. I have a Fender Jazz I use but that is a big beefy bass, I love it, but I am a small guy. A friend recommended it to me. I saw one at a local chain store and almost pulled the trigger. But I wanted to research it. I have seen nothing but good reviews of it, but everyone talked about the tuning pegs. But I own two Gretsch guitars, so I know if it says Gretsch, it has to be good. But I wasn't sold until I just watched your video. I so value your opinion, and I was sold. Thanks man, Rock Steady.

I really like how this bass sounds with a pick. I checked out one of these at Guitar Center. I had just checked out a Squier Affinity P Bass before this one and I like the Gretsch more. Very comfortable little bass to play. At my age, comfort is really important. Thank you for the review.

it's amazing how funky this is for a Gibson-ish Bass. The one I tried in a pawn shop was very strange though - sounded weirdly dark for a single coil, maybe the strings were just really dead? was also surprisingly quiet compared to what I heard.

I was thinking about getting one (getting back into making music again) but I hadn't seen anyone using it with a pick which is how I preferred to play. Thanks for using one (a pick) in the demo. It sounded good.

I'm in the market for a Gretsch bass! Although, I have the Glarry PJ bass and I love it, I'll like to experience different tones. I saw your review for the pink Gretsch a while back. I'm trying to grasp as much info before I commit to a purchase. There are not too many bassists on KZbin. I appreciate you taking the time to educate us, especially, the beginners. Thank you!

Always was curious about these, but jamming in metal bands for years, i didnt feel that it would fit. Im auditioning for a country band next month, and i feel this would fit well. Sounds so good man

It says humbucker, but they are single coil. Some modders on talkbass discovered this. Also, I skimmed it twice afterwards. Where's the slap bully? You used a pick but didn't slap it????? I'm gonna need a video of you slappin that bass.

Hey! Just a heads up, this actually has single coil pickups even tho the site says it has humbuckers. The lobster bass guy did a video about it. And according to him, if anyone buys this bass new they can get $100 worth of Gretsch or Fender gear! And also super great demo and discussion too!

There are some Basses that are just better suited for picks/plectrums. They sound right when played with one. I have an Epiphone Explorer Bass, which is exactly that. I don't play it with my fingers. It roars with a pick.

That's awesome. I'm 58 and just got my first Bass..I just got a wild hair after listening to you and a few other guys. And said to myself : Self, let's learn to play the Bass. So I bought a low cost full size Bass , and I've got small hands.. And I'm having a hard time getting a good crip on the neck. But something in that form of size might fit me better. Any thoughts on a lower cost Bass in this format? Would appreciate your suggestions.. Great video Bully. I always laugh when men have to jokingly justify that they have an item in pink. Society has really got a hold of such individuals. Hey, I'm a big man myself, and I love pink. I'm even plunking right now on a pink computer. Anyway, I think that Gretsch is awesome. Kinda reminds me of a Les Paul jr. Much mahalo!

I purchased this bass to learn on then later purchased a fender players p bass thinking it would produce a better sound, I was wrong and could have saved that thousand dollars. The Gretch is a better bass. It cuts through the mix better with a richer tone. Fender player is good quality as far as build goes but the Gretch sounds better at a 3rd of the price.

The tuning keys were my only complaint. Every time i try to downtune from E to D# the E key slips and runs past it to D (maybe they were going for hipshot downtuning?). I wouldn't downtune much further than half a step. I put flats on it in December - i dont think i would go back to rounds on this application. Now get lobster to try it:-)

I weighed mine, and it’s 3.759 kg or 8lbs 4.7oz. (with strap attached). So, about 8 1/4 pounds.

Fender (the co. that makes these basses) was caught in a lie by the Lobster. The pickups are single coils. Bully knows this by now. (Jan. 2024).

It's actually pretty balanced. It's short scale with a solid body

Yeah, it balances very nicely. I’m considering a switch to some light weight Hipshots, but there’s no *need* to do so; neck dive really isn’t an issue, especially strapped. Like, if you totally let go and stand there, it will lean toward the headstock somewhat, but while playing (even moving around a lot) I in no way feel that I’m having to support the neck to prevent neck dive.

Mine has terrible neck dive, changed from a Levy’s 4” leather strap ( I use only Levy’s straps on my guitars ) but a Lekato on this bass. It helps + I never let go of the neck.when performing these days. Before strap locks my prized Gibson LP Custom Deluxe black beauty dropped and broke a tuning head on stage……. yea the room went real quiet, that was about 45 years ago and I always have a death grip nowadays on my guitar necks. I’m still traumatized to this day

I'm just trying to find out if the octaves are on. I have a Jay Tercer Hoffner Violin knock of that sounds great but it´s action is rough the higher notes are not in sync with their lower register counterparts.
