I just realized one thing I loved about GT over Super. I love that characters got new transformations but still had to deal with issues other than the enemy's power. Personal stories were still being told mid-fight. The Goku Black Arc's "I killed Goten and Chi-Chi" speech and Goku's reaction to it was the only memorable thing that came close for me in Super. 😅

The scene where Goku picks up Frieza, he literally reenacts the fight where he fought Grandpa Gohan on Fortuneteller Baba's place. There was also the time where they went to grab the Paradise Herb and literally had major villains show up as Krillin's trauma. In the ToP arc, we even saw Kami and Nail when Piccolo was unconscious for a bit. There was also when Goku and Krillin was sparring, there was a moment where they reminisce on their first tournament fight. Also, bringing up the Four Witches technique is a bad example. It literally only happened once in the series and never was used again till Super. I disagree with this point considering there's even a retcon foreshadowing of Goku's journey to achieving Ultra instinct from his old masters. Super brings up a lot from old DB and we even had Arale show up in a filler episode.

Overall it's not as great as dbz but parts of it are the best in the franchise, Baby arc narrative and ssj4 form overall , and mostly decent stuff like shadow dragons the initial 4 get treated a bit more lightly making for some more fun og db like episodes but they progress to the more serious ones in just a few episodes and Syn/Omega is a pretty fitting final villain even though i think baby is the MVP . He is the only one actually trying to make Goku give up before finishing him , the very first interaction is him throwing Goku's anger back in his face guilt tripping him after k*lling Nouva and outright declaring him the bad guy " U're going to make me pay ? And who was it that gave me life ? It was u Son Goku . The planet being disrupted , it's all ur fault . After being helped out so many times by the dragon balls , don't go asking for anything " , " if u truly feel sorry , then apologize with ur life ! " and the fight starts. Later he even incentivises him with " Release this burden from ur shoulders , pleasant feelings await u in heaven " he wants him to submit to his will before delivering the final judgement , and the old man voice in japanese fits him perfectly.

The dub has some of its own cool stuff but overall it messes with dialogues too much changing them completely many times and messing with cool and relevant info about things mentioned in sub , especially making Pan almost a different character just the spitefulness in her dialogues and sometimes completely changing what she's saying to be something spiteful towards someone for no reason , there are some things like this with dub and the negative influence with the " right opinion " making this often get called ten times worse than it is because " it's GT it has to be bad " like sometimes u can spot how much of a warped logic is behind some of the criticism like " Goku time " ? Really ? Dbz is always Goku time except Cell saga where Gohan eventually amounted to more , yet most of it is still Goku being the best . Since the start to baby arc's end u can mention way too many instances of characters helping and being key contributors for it to be that and i'm talking the fight help other than the several times Goku was outright saved from death by non fighting help too . • Trunks fights Luud on equal footing with Goku • As ssj blasts off Mutchy ( who was giving trouble to Goku in close combat and was choking him after knocking him out of ssj ) so hard that he's never seen again • Pan and Goku have to beat Luud in a team effort by attacking his weak spot as after taking her power he is strong enough to not get beaten by Goku alone without the weakness exploitation . • Pan surpasses all the collected data of Sigma force member which a holding back Goku had trouble against and beats him after her anger awakening moment • Overwhelms Rildo ( who is stated stronger than Buu) multiple times in raw power surprising him although can't win a full on fight . • All of the space adventure main cast outclass initial Baby's power who is implied stronger than Rildo by Dr. Mu , they all finish Baby controlled Rildo together by firing ki waves at the same time when he held their ship and was stopping them from going away from M2 planet . • Trunks forcibly pushes Baby out of his body by turning ssj or maybe ssj2 for a brief moment cuz it had that kind of electricity. • Base Goten bullies a more grown Teen Baby even though Baby sometimes pushed away other saiyans by a sudden burst of power even though he wasn't simply stronger than them , only gets possessed after being taken over in ssj which is the same for everyone after Baby learned about their ssj ability from getting pushed out of Trunks. • Base Gohan still schools Ssj Goten in skill and power catching his kick and throwing him away after Baby considered it impressive that he tanked a ki blast from Ssj Goten saying that alone makes his body worth taking over , both getting tired at the same time while Gohan still only intends to defend himself and not attack saying " no matter what if i attack now Goten will get injured ", only being baited into ssj to quickly stop the burst of power Baby Goten was doing which Gohan said would " destroy everything " . • Ssj Gohan beats up base Vegeta then gets continuously dominated by his ssj , saying " That's Vegeta for u . He's even greater than Gohan " which he also established right after taking Goten's body , " there are saiyans living in west city . Let's see who is the strongest ... Vegeta " , " If i take over his body , i'll obtain the power to surpass Goku and Trunks " • After Baby uses a special technique of leaving ki trails with similar ki signatures due to Gohan and Goten being brothers by moving fast around Vegeta making it difficult for him to sense their positions , charges ki so hard they both get bodied by its force not even a direct attack then Baby sneaks into him . • Uub after post training saves Pan from getting k*lled by possessed Gohan when Goku couldn't be there , equally clashes and pushes back a holding back Super baby 2 slamming him into a wall to the point the possessed saiyans throught he was losing and interrupted to shield him when Uub was charging towards him , with Baby himself saying he was interested in Uub's power after he has bullied ssj3 Goku two transformations ago which was just ssj Baby Vegeta ( Super baby 2 is stated to resemble ssj3 in GT Perfect Files ) • As Majuub pushes around a serious Super baby 2 and Baby has to really inflate his muscles to beat Majuub in beam clash . • Ssj Trunks pushes aside an unsuspecting Golden ozaru baby making him fall with his attack saving Pan when Ssj4 Goku didn't have enough energy left for even a kamehameha • Majuub reverses chocolate beam in Baby's belly revealing he let himself get eaten on purpose and stalls baby long enough for Goku to get full power in ssj4 otherwise they all would've died . • This is just fight stuff not things like Trunks and Giru's plan being the reason the space gang didn't end up as metal slabs while Goku implies Trunks isn't weak enough to lose to Rildo either saying " i knew it had to be something when u got caught by Rildo's attack " , kais being the reason Goku didn't die several times saving him from existence erasure then pulling out his tail , Pan being the reason Goku gets ssj4 in time before Baby is back with his own golden ozaru . • Only after episode 40 till the last 24 episodes do the other characters simply seem to fall behind for the most part and only good for keeping opponents busy yet being key contributors sometimes like Goku losing to Super 17 and only beating him because of 18's help , Goten saving unconscious Goku from dropping to his death on a big metal sword of a statue , them increasing the full power of his ssj4 , keeping Omega distracted for a bit for fusion , before Vegeta finally catches up with Goku in shadow dragon arc which he couldn't do in dbz. Yes he is established just as strong as him in that arc , by not only fighting Omega on equal footing with him and catching him off guard a couple times in the fight , but explicitly being stated equally strong as Goku's ssj4 in GT Perfect Files as well . And this is after Goku has increased full power of his ssj4 leagues above the previous by the help of others . If we look at this by number of episodes and what the last arc of dbz did it's ridiculous . Buu saga is longer than all of GT yet GT is by far better in this . Even giving Piccolo way more respect . Buu saga turned into a joke only being good for teaching the kids fusion which is the best thing he did which didn't really amount to anything cuz the kids goof around and Buu k*lls everyone either way . Even the things he can control get turned into a joke , destroys HTC gate to keeo Buu trapped then Gotenks says he was just acting about not having more options and didn't need it , then Buu screams out of there anyway . While GT Piccolo whenever he shows up actually gets some important things done . First time he comes to see what's happening and gets hit by Gohan's kamehameha but survives it saving Goten and takes him home , second time sacrifices himself to get rid of black star dragon balls , third time opens a portal between hell and earth with Dende emulating what the 17s did to get Goku there when even King Yemma couldn't due to negative energy of dragon balls tampering with things.

There’s a lot of overlooked and under appreciated moments in GT because too many feel the need to hate on it to gain acceptance from those whom don’t matter. This is one of those moments. You literally see Goku become the embodiment of what it means to be a Saiyan with a form that combines the Oozaru and the Super Saiyan. The same Great Ape form that saved Bulma and them in Dragon Ball. Yet you see Goku get hate on by his first and oldest friend and how it hit a personal nerve. I mean there are some genuine reasons and preferences but the negative stigma has really made it way worse and if u check their logic often times u'll find they're criticising specifically just GT for something that has always been the same way a prime example being " Goku time " , anyone intending to argue this should actually pay attention to how many times Goku gets helped even in fights let alone outside them with Vegeta finally catching upto Goku in shadow dragon arc which he didn't do in dbz , now someone will say " he got ssj4 through a machine " after not paying attention that ssj4 is two levels of succession gained by Vegeta's own merit , above the regular ozaru that has been a free powerup from the start that every saiyan is capable of by default and just has to expose themselves to a certain external stimulus no training needed whatsoever . If u compare it to Buu saga it's crazy how it's way better overall while being shorter . Even Piccolo gets more respect after being turned into a joke in Buu saga , that only taught the kids fusion and they just goofed around and got everyone k*lled anyway , with things he can control well being turned into a joke like destroying HTC gate to trap Buu then Gotenks says he was just acting like losing for drama and didn't need that then Buu screams out if there anyway . While GT Piccolo gets important things done everytime he shows up .
