Facts, but hey Kid Gohan was something else. Bro was scared, but he stood strong. He didn't cower away when Goku was seemingly gone and Freeza came after him, he was ready to stand his ground. Meanwhile pre-teen Gohan was shitting bricks when it came to fighting Cell, cuz Goku couldn't get it done. Also kid Gohan screamed at Chi chi. Dude was normally reactionary, but he starred becoming active and then kinda regressed with age.

I think Toriyama really wanted to let his characters grow in a slower and more of a "slice of life" kind of way but the pressure to him to make it a fight of the week format let go of that idea. Gohan was set to be the next protagonist but unlike Goku, fighting is just secondary. Living as a human is more of his style though he is more ruthless than Goku when it comes to finishing his enemies. It's sad we didn't get to see more of this growth from Gohan and only got the results after.
