A trendy businessman needs a bodyguard, but Bulman is too late. His murder investigation leads to a pretty dancer.
An uncredited Tony Robinson of Baldrick fame appears at 12:45 and 37:24 as Professor Allerton - anticipating by some years his subsequent connection with geomorphology during his long stint with Time Team.
Another face you'll likely recognise but probably can't put a name to is Paul Angelis, who regularly appeared during the 1970s in programmes such as The Sweeney, as armed robber and hard man, Barney Prince (episode: "Stoppo Driver"), Man About the House, Callan, Porridge - the list goes on. And a fact that was new to me was that he provided the voice of Ringo Starr, George Harrison, and the Chief Blue Meanie in the film Yellow Submarine. Well, he was born in Liverpool so that gave him a head start.
First Broadcast 12th June 1985.
Don Henderson - George Bulman
Siobhan Redmond - Lucy McGinty
Mark McManus - D.C.S. Jack Lambie

Always Great music. From the beginning with the Birdland rip off all the way to now. Kudos to the composers and musicians.

David Hargreaves. We knew him as Rainbow from the first two series of Strangers. I'm wondering how Granada got away with casting him as another character in Bulman's world real time.

Granada counting on short attention spans perhaps. Though it can be fine sport trying to spot which characters were played previously when these actors pop-up again and again. Thankfully it doesn't happen in real life!

Btw, I don't know if you recall it, but a series I think you might like - brimming with London villians, bent coppers, shooters, blags, old Fords and Jags, snooker halls - is a mini-series called Law and Order, made by the BBC in 1978 - filmed in 16mm. YT doesn't like me including links, but, if you're interested, you can paste-in the follwing into the search bar: "Law and Order | S1 E1 | 1978 | UK TV | A Detective's Tale | St: Derek Martin"

@FoogouFilms I've heard of it, just never seen it. But yeah, I will definitely check it out. Thanks so much! By the way, talking of Derek Martin, I just got through watching a short TV film called "Print-Out". Produced by Granada in 16mm for the ITV Playhouse anthology series in 1979. It featured George Baker and Peter Davison, with Martin and David Dixon providing support. It was more of a suspense thriller entry that just had me glued. The writing was tops, and the cinematography made everything look so real in 1979 standards. Even the disco-esque music soundtrack was killer, man! I don't know very much about the ITV Playhouse series, but I'm sure this film stood out from everything else that anthology series featured.

@@mikekemp9877 Right back to The XYY Man, now there's devotion! I must have seen the earlier Strangers I guess as a teenager, enough at least to realise they were probably worth watching again. They don't disappoint.
