Ron, I didn't know you until the last couple of days...and in my humble opinion you are one of the most inspiring guitarists of the moment. I, as an 80's fanatic, was stuck on guitarist like Norum, Marcello, Lukather, Satriani, Gilbert, Kotzen and Vai en actually thought things couldn't get much better than that. Watching you has changed my mind about that. You're really great to watch and listen! Also, you have this great vibe and seem to stand close to your fans. Thank you for uploading your great inspiring vids. I salut you!

Brother, your site blew my mind. You have a lot of guts to be so vulnerable like that, truly inspirational because of that vulnerability. I second what I said before, we need more people with attitudes like yours. Live long and well and prosper. And even though I've haven't seen you live I'd say it: Thank You!

I saw sons of Apollo live at the ace of spades in Sacramento I believe it was in 2018, i had never heard of them but my step dad said "Mike Portnoy" and I was like " fuck yeah I'm in" the whoke car ride there we talked about bumblefoot, I had heard of him beforw but never heard him play, when I saw the guitar with the smooth fret board my jaw hit the floor because i had never heard of anything of the sort, the show was fantastic, I was blown away, as an aspiring guitar player my musical life was changed forever and im dedicated to improving my skills, ive been playing for almost 12 years and im nowhere near where i thought i would be when I started, but people like bumblefoot inspire me to practice and find new awesome ways to change and improve my sound

Just got your most recent album Ron, It's sublime!!:). It's undoubted that you're one of the best guitarists on the planet, but what I find a little odd is that no one ever comments on your voice and how strong it is and its range...? Well I'm making a stand today!!:)) Not only are you an unbelievable guitarist your also an unbelievable singer too!!;) Sonically, the new album is a melodious sound-scape, congratulations!! Keep on rockin' brother like only you can!! All the best for the future Ron to you and your family.

Anthony Taylor Absolutely mate, and the new album is something else, sonically its unreal. I think it showcases Ron as a great all-round musician and not just the phenomenal guitarist we know him to be. The guitar kicks up a storm when it needs to yet sits underneath at times also, adding melody to the vocals that sit on top. Overall these subtleties combine to enhance the soundscape. And hey, it's fun too, Ron really shines through individually!!:)

That's pretty sick. George Lynch does a lot of the vibrato slides on his fretted guitars. He says that the strings/finger tips actually get pretty hot from the friction. To the point that his fingers hurt. Do you run in to this with your fretless?
@Bumblefoot10 жыл бұрын
No pain from the fretless, it's smooth sailin' :)

What kind of strings are you using on both guitars? Not to get too personal or anything...

Dont know why, but im quite pissed off with everyone. Ive been obsessing and listening to Ron since 1997. Have all the albums and been trying to spread em to everyone. I feel bad he had to join GnR to get more of the exposure he deserves. Anyway Ron, i love everything you do, cause its original, everything you do is awsome. Everyone check this old ass vid of him and Guthrie g fooling around at naam like 2010. Pure Gold!

I've always enjoyed your music man. You have a style that is just out of this world! Just at a curiosity, do you tour around the U.S. much? I see that you are usually touring out in other countries, and when you are in the U.S, unfortunately there's never a show anywhere close to where I'm at. I live out in Louisville, Kentucky lol I would love to see you play a full show out here, or at least a guitar clinic. The only guys we have gotten out here recently have been Vinnie Moore, Michael Angelo Batio, George Lynch, and a few others. They are all fantastic guitarists and really cool people, but they just aren't good ol' Ron Bumblefoot Thal :p haha I would really love to see you sometime man :) Keep up the incredible music!

I know quite a bit of promoters around my area, and I'm sure they would be interested in getting you down here for a show :)
@TaylorBellemare10 жыл бұрын
Wow! Speechless man! You are such an amazing player. Really can't wait for this album. Question: Does the fingerboard of the fretless make a huge difference in sound? I was thinking about tearing the frets out of an old guitar and experimenting with either keeping it wood or putting a sheet of some type of metal.
@Bumblefoot10 жыл бұрын
TaylorBellemare Metal definitely has more sustain than wood... I'd go with metal.....
@WaywardYak10 жыл бұрын
Another option (that might be easier than fashioning a fingerboard out of metal) would be to leave the wood and coat it in something hard (an epoxy or whatever). The fingerboard material will make a difference to the sound, but I think the bigger thing with a fretless guitar is really the sustain. With a bass at least there's a lot of mass in those fat strings, but with a guitar and its tiny strings, sustain can be a problem.

Hi Ron, I must say an often overlooked part of your music, at least what I'm guilty of, is your singing!! But I have a question for you, I have been trying like crazy to get the intro for aces high (the cover you did with band geeks). I think you're doing a multi string D, G harmony/octave thing emulating smith/murray parts at the same time? Is this correct??
