I just learned a gardening trick if ya plant caster bean plants it repels moles,voles and gophers as well as a few other pests. I know you gotta use that bit of warmth and insulation way up in frozen cornhole of Hoth, but growing potatoes in containers is so damn much easier that growing the little bastards in the ground. Harvest time, just dump the bucket into a trailer, grab the potatoes, grab the next bucket. None of that back breaking "digging" crap. Love your videos, Man. Glad you're back!

Farmer once told me animals don't like starchy food. To wash them before feeding it to them. So maybe soak them before giving the peels to the animals? Or have your better 3/4s feed them instead. Maybe the animals figured out you are fattening them up for the slaughter.

Blanch 'em. 80% freeze 'em. Put 'em in cold oil. Turn on heat to medium. Done when the colour is right ('bout 20 mins). As the oil heats up it does the two fries by itself, no temperature testing required, no pulling out and putting in the fries, no spatter (as the water boils off as the oil gently heats up). Crispy cold-oil fried fries. :)

Yeah alot of my family dont like the potato skin. Wash the dirt off, cut them golden beauties into thin and thick slices and throw them on the bbq. The skin becomes this thin crispy additional treat to the potato.

Don't salt the spuds before frying, salt catalyzes the breakdown of the oil so you don't get as many uses from it. The first frying can be low temp like 250f-275 (also extends the oil life), just to cook them to tender, gelatinizes the starch and drives out a tiny bit of surface moisture. (For passers by: the key is to get them cold all the way through before the second frying; room temp is ok, but refrigerated is best [can even freeze them].)

Boil the peelings - the pigs and chickens will be fighting over them. Grandad used to boil up pig taters every autumn in a big cauldron. All the small and damaged ones that would rot when camped over winter.

you might try raising a few plots of taters in just straw mulch!! they grow the tuber above ground if you lay the straw mulch about 8" to a foot deep you plant the seed taters just in the middle of the straw and water em in I havent heard from other canadians about this but it works a wonder in central US- nice and clean
