SGF, just wanted to say that your demo playthrough persuaded me to buy it when it came out. I really loved playing through it myself but I will stay tuned for your LP. May the silent goat walk with you.

The name "Henry Division" keeps making me think of "John Problem". And this makes me smile.

I've been watching a LP on this. The style of this is nothing short of outstanding. I really dig the aesthetic.

Surreal, arcane and camp. _Birthed_ for _You_ -- not through intention, but inevitability.

YES! I already played it thanks to you, SGF, so it’s wonderful to see more people ruminate through it more. Between the chill soundtrack and the writing I already praised in the Demo Friend, it’s quite a whodunit - and just a cool place to ramble about. First DeceasedCrab and now you. All that’s left is for UnPlayedAThing to come out of retirement, and for raocow to somehow happen upon it on a lark.

This game, of all things, has seriously changed my life for the better, and I feel I owe you a debt (in the best possible way) for introducing me to it 👍

Oh no, THAT was the voice acting they went with? Half of it sounds like it was recorded on a desk mic... :-T Anyway fun aesthetic and the music is okay, we'll see how the plot unfolds.

Heads up SGF you will save yourself a lot of time and headaches trying to jump to difficult spots if you use the footbaths scattered around the island they are very worth the blood crystal price.

Huh. This game feels like if Iwazaru from Killer7 munched a bucket of mushrooms.

This game has an odd mix of an interesting aesthetic and a dialogue that is either cribbed from clickhole or a severe case of tumblritis, it's hard to get a handle on so far.
@GeorgeNoiseless3 жыл бұрын
Well if it's cribbed from sheer deranged brilliance that's not a bad thing, but how would you describe "tumblritis"?
@nuclearlad3 жыл бұрын
@@GeorgeNoiseless maybe a poor choice of words but i mean if it's just saying things for the sake of sounding cool, like a teen would do, with no real thought given to why, it may get tiresome. I guess I also mean how she says "nani the fuck"
@GeorgeNoiseless3 жыл бұрын
@@nuclearlad Oh yeah I can see it: "nani the fuck", "midori eyes"... Seems like those were inserted for the sake of the vapourwave aesthetic, but they do come off juvenile. Would those were written in katakana as is traditional for the artform, they'd look more _appropriate_ at least.

@pastal Oh I've never disputed the thought put into it, the reference to Clickhole is simply sincere praise of anything imaginative. Owlrich's point about some small quirks of the presentation is valid though, even if that wasn't the author's intention. For how scarce the references are anyway, they could have gone full Japanese text.

The biggest gripe I have with this game that has persisted since the demo, the writing. It's flowery in all the wrong places, and while it's very clearly Danganronpa in presentation, it's got none of the bombastic characterization like it. The characters are all very flat and what they say does not reflect who they are. It's like you are being talked at and not to. And I find that very uninteresting.

Does "SJW game" translate to "Has gay/trans/non-white characters in it while not shaming / denigrating them"? Cause I'm not seeing much in terms of social issues discussed.

@@GeorgeNoiseless oh I'm fine with it. I only object to SJWism when it infects something else. When creators make their own original content, like Steven Universe (which I love) I think it's great stuff. I'm not much of a fan of this game; it's a little too garish for me. I respect the bold efforts the creators made though.

I like poetry and flowery language, but I abominate navel gazing and am not fond of obtuse posturing either. Mixed bag so far. Really more characterization is needed. Even if the game drip feeds it to the player, as long as it eventually comes than all will be well.
