There is no notepad and yes you are absolutely expected to write down a LOT of things in this game in order to reach the true ending. Without a guide it will definitely take numerous playthroughs to do so.

The real-time component of this game seems interesting. Sort of like Sentient, except only about 50% as inscrutable? Hope SGF comes back to this game in the future.

Boy Japan really loves Twin Peaks huh?

There are an abosolute ton of missable cutscenes and events in this game. Literally just at the very beginning of the game after the prologue I'm pretty sure you have like 5 minutes to make it to Emma's house or you'll miss a cutscene with a character.

This is really great. I just got done playing it through with a friend. We sat down and played it through 3 times writing down everything that occurred into a rough timeline. By the end of the second playthrough we had quite an elaborate list of events and information and we took some time to think about what we considered a ‘optimal’ playthrough. We then arranged it as tightly as possible making sure to cover all events and making sure we learned as much as we could in a single attempt. We managed to solve it on the 3rd try. We were actually elated, as I had heard it was meant to be impossible without assistance and to have worked it out ourselves was a really great moment. It is absolutely possible to work it out without a guide but you are definitely going to want to write down as much information as you can. It is far more lenient than people claim but it does expect you to try multiple times and to actually think as you play which will put a lot of players off. You’re not just here to blindly go scene to scene, you’re here to actually try and work it out. It was a really great experience and I loved every second of it. It’s really really special.

Really interesting looking game and I'd love to see more of it, but I am not a fan of the SGF voice acting. It's the same voices and tones for every game, takes up too much time, and it gets grating over multiple games.

if it is what i think it is, then ouchy ouchy is the clinical term. there has been a cadmium poisoning incident in toyama region of japan which led to joint pain and bone softening. itai means ouch in japan and the sickness was called itai-itai, ouch ouch, by the locals, which then became the name of the disease. the problem was ongoing between 1912 and 2012. Maybe it is a reference to that disease

Part of Mizzuna Falls' merciless difficulty is due to it being feature incomplete. There was meant to be a diary that the protagonist would carry over between play throughs and you would use the diary the plot your way to the game's true end. Without the diary, you needed to keep your own notes for each play through, taking into account red herrings the game will throw your way.

I’ve got two different copies of this game since learning of its existence and have been so disappointed. Have a Japanese ps2 that has worked with many different games but for some reason this just wouldn’t load up at all. Figured it was one faulty disc so I imported another, so now I figure I must be doing something wrong because what are the chances of getting another that just happens to not work? Grateful to see someone try it at least.

2:53 They don't talk about it much, but in the last episode he did say he would retire from being a cop and open up a restaurant, which would imply he believes he a very competent chef. It's also been implied that he's been cooking for Mizuki for 4 years and the only thing she complains about is his personality.

Seriously, SGF, you need to get into voice acting, doing radio plays or audiobooks or something. "Perpetually Singing Priest Behind a Door" is a masterpiece of voice work.

I literally hollered out loud when I saw this vid. Caught iconoclast187's playthrough of this game years back and fell in love with it, hoping we get a full bumbling through this wonderful little town of Legally Distinct Twin Peaks.

There's something about the aesthetic and tone of these type of games that I always find relaxing. Low-Poly small sleepy towns and/or snowy villages soothes my lizard brain just long enough, i guess.

This game looks interesting. The sheriff's icon is definitely the face of the police officer in the Die Hard films, and from the show Family Matters. The actor is Reginald VelJohnson.

Morgan's portrait seems to be directly inspired by Reginald ValJohnson

The game Pathologic (1st one at least, I didn't play 2nd one which I understand is more meta) has a similar mechanic of "if you are not there on that day at that time, you miss it" in it. I personally really enjoyed it, but Pathologic sort of guides you more, I guess. It's a unique mechanic for sure though and I like unique old stuff.

34:20 any time someone says this is tiny I let them know my dad's home village is down to 50 people.. (but honestly it doesn't feel weird in there at all other than the fact everyone knows each other, the nearest other village is a mile away in any direction, church and store is 1 mile, and town is 3 miles away).

I hope this becomes a full bumble. I saw an old youtuber Iconaclast, forget the numbers with his username, do this years back. One of the last let's plays he ever did. Being visually impaired I wasn't quite sure what happened at the end. Also I look forward to all the voices I'm sure SGF will be doing.

SGF really knows what the people want doesn't he, the real genuine experience. And I gotta give props to the narrator, I understood some of the words at least.
