I went to Angkor wat in Dec of 2018 for a marathon around the temple, I didn't run, I just walked to enjoy the spectacular sight. The sun rise was amazing. I was walking along the outside of the temple to the north, the sun light was cutting through trees from the east, it was like what you see in movies, walking through some magical land, and the temple had that golden look to it. I kinda had a moment there, realising that life is beautiful.

Wow, that is all so beautiful. I can see how some of the older part of the temple has been affected by the overgrown greenery. I imagine tree roots have some what disrupted the buildings and walkways causing much shifting. That tuk tuk driver is so nice, considerate. First the hand sanitizer then warm towels! Beautiful sunrise, I prefer it to the "rosy orange" one :) I'm never sick but I am a squeamish: can't bear the heat and have motion sickness. It amazes me that people can do lots of things in a day. My fave temples are Preah Khan, Neak Pean (located on a small island), Ta Som and other small temples (there is almost no one here). When I go there, I try to drink fresh coconut water (with flesh) and fresh pineapple juice as much as I can. Sometimes, I take a Grass Jelly drink and most of the time, only French mineral water.

Yes, make your humanitarian gift in your everyday purchases/interactions such as when you buy you don’t bargain to get a dollar cheaper. The dollar means so much to these people and so little to us. It could mean a new school uniform for the kids or fee for their dental visit. Don’t wait until the children end up in orphanages; help upstream and support the families when they are struggling to make ends meet. Most are hardworking and just want to make enough to put food on the table.

50 miles square dotted with ancient temples there - the ones tourists see are the most well-preserved ones so it’s a matter of how many ruins you want to see. Would suggest taking a tour guide- you’d learn so much more about the bass reliefs. Also Angkor Wat itself was built in the 12th century so 1,000 years old as of 2022
