One of your best Brooke and Damien! Many thanks for posting. It gives a real flavour to your local area. You are certainly very lucky to enjoy such benign boating weather in the depths of your winter! Very Jealous. Interesting that you do not bother to uncover/use your VHF? Does that mean there is no local harbour/shipping control? Great to have your commentary on revs and speed, but could you also state your fuel consumption figures too please. In the UK petrol prices have hit the roof. So many of us are are trying to use the boat at the most economic speeds. By the way how do you fit your snubber to the cable? With a hook, a rolling hitch? Or some other chain fitting. Thanks again for a great video and look forward to the next one in this series.

Hi John, yes it is difficult here in winter. I don't need the radio at this point as we are still inside the bay on smooth and partially smooth water. There are no ships (merchant ships) that come in through the sea way. There isn't a requirement to call into the coast guard unless you are 'going outside' into open water. Also phones work in all the areas we go. Yes I'll start adding consumption figures about the fuel. Yes prices are crazy here, perhaps that is why I don't mention it, just ignore it!! Will do a video on the snubber. I've got a chain hook. Are you in the water yet, your summer is crazy over there!!

Thanks for the video, interested you still use the Jeanneau supplied anchor, mine would not hold in hard sand so replaced with a 10 kg Rocna and have never looked back. Held one night in around 30kts and braking waves after the weather turned. Have also changed the fairlead so I can now operate from the helm without opening the hatch.

We've found the anchor hold quite good, we have light sand and mud around here. Been on the hook for a couple of day with a reasonable tidal flow no problem. Always looking for new ideas and I have heard a lot of people change over to the Rocna. Do you need a new fair-lead for the Rocna? I can operate from the helm now but prefer to use to people on the job so can see what is happening. Cheers.

Not sure if the Rocna would work with the standard fairlead sorry, needed helm control for fishing in rough conditions so replaced as a pair. The standard fairlead doesn’t let the anchor come out without opening the hatch otherwise damage occurs.

@@mikeb1952 ahh yes you are correct about the anchor hitting the hatch. I will look into the Roca though. Dragged anchor before while sleeping, never fun.
