You know, since having a Pannenkoek in NL with speck, kaas and ei is acceptable, I hereby proclaim that having a speck or ham, kaas and ei Jonnycake with a little drizzle of stroop is OK and that will help with McGriddle Jonesing. You're welcome.

You made me smile today, great detailed video. I love food and every possible texture of it. I had my grandmothers cremation today, and had a hard time to eat, until I saw your comforting video. It maybe too much of a comment, but it's true. Keep up the good vibes and videos guys!

There was a game awhile back called Pirates! where you could sail around the Dutch Antilles and raid Spanish, English, and French ports under the Dutch flag. That's how I know of all these places, lol. Never actually been.

Bouillabaisse is a fench fishsoup also with whole pieces of fish.. it is like this 1 a classic.. it was made before comfort food came into existence.. so get messy, but since the fishbones add a lot of flavour to the soup and keeps the fish from drying out and dig in! with care of course..

Dordt has a large Antillean community. So it's one of the cities with the most Carribean food take-outs / restaurants. And know I am curious about your visit to Frisia, the province in the Netherlands where the native language is Frisian, not Dutch and they have quite a set of Frisian specialties (from Frisian dûmpkes (hazelnut -'sand' cookies), Sûkerbolle/ Sûkerbread [Sugarbread] and some odd dishes and drinks. The most odd dish is Sûrkoal mei banaan (Sauerkraut with banana's). A particular thing of Frisia are the large number of fish restaurants in Staveren and Harlingen. They have a lot of seafood specialties including local fishermen catch. Fun detail. You can travel by train to Enkhuizen, a part of North-Holland called "West-Frisia". The train station is straight at the harbor with the oldest Dutch "ferry" to cross the IJsselmeer (formerly Southern Sea) which separates West-Frisia from (central) Frisia. The ferry ends at the port of the old 'tiny' city of Stavoren (Starum in Frisian). Stavoren itself also has a train station with a track toward Leewarden (Ljouwert in Frisian) straight at the harbor. In summer the ferry sails three times per day back and forth and there's a combined trainticket + ferry-ticket. The ferry is about 80 minutes.

Although the season is at its end white asparagus have to feature on a (renewed) Dutch food tour, you might also try Hela curry on a toasti or dive into Zeeuwse mossellen or some Dutch shrimps. A refreshing tip might be rooie Annie (red Ann) mix (hero) cassis and (royal club) bitter lemon 50/50, Lipton ice tea sparkling is my favourite and only sold in the Netherlands and Belgium. Off topic and a bit belated congratulations on your move to Dordt and on your copper marriage, when your beach hopping do consider Knokke-Heist (Belgium) and see the difference, on topic order some slibtong at the beach.

Looks pretty much like mama's food, not what you would find in a restaurant on the islands. It actually seems more related to Surinam cooking than the islands themselves as just about all of the ingredients won't grow on them, you can catch fish from the ocean and a goat could likely survive on the rocky terrain but that's about it. As none of the original people that inhabited the islands where even around when the Dutch landed, this is all fusion of course; a combination of various European and a high dose of Creole cooking.

If you go to the Caribian go to Aruba, for me is that the most beautiful one and much better for example the bus that comes on time and the other island the bus doesn t come at all.. Dont go to Palm Beach because and i am sorry...there are the Americans (The types i realy dont like) The other islands are also very beautiful and Aruba is the most expensive one but its my personel favorite.

Please check a map. The Dutch Caribbean islands are the three s-es, St. Maarten, St. Eustatius and Saba, more in the north, and the abc-islands, Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao, more to the south. They are quite some distance from each other and therefore have different kitchens. I’ve been to several Caribbean islands, also not Dutch, and always have enjoyed the food.

@@buncharted well, you know it is pretty easy to book a holiday. I'd suggest to combine three islands in one trip of 2-3 weeks. Most would opt for Curaçao, Bonaire and Aruba. I would be the one to just go to St Maarten and Saba, but to complete it, the French side of St Martin is a must.

If you visit the Dutch Islands, I would vote for Saba or Bonaire...Saba is very small but has a nice university culture and is beautifull, very small and it's basically a Vulcano island, Bonaire is arguably the most pretty nature wise, and has a very interesting cultural background (which involves slavery...see for yourselves!). I keep commenting on your vids, because I throrougly enjoy your adventures in Dutch Culture! The choice of how the Islands seperated freely from the Netherland is a whole different story in itself, look it up since it is very interesting. Curacao and Aruba are for many first choice but very touristic and commercial, very different from Saba and Bonaire. Doei!
