Northern Illinois has been really bad for winter lovers in december for the last I dont even know how many years.. real winter will start after january 1st for us

7 bad years now for winter lovers like us. Last December we got a total of about 0.1" of snow for the entire month and nothing that ever stuck. When I was a kid in the 70's, we averaged 12.4" of snow in December alone. Now the average for December is officially like 3" and realistically less. These meteorologists have no clue what they're talking about. I'm starting to think that a degree in meteorology is as useless as a gender studies degree. In 2022, the night before the alleged event(a few days before Xmas), they were predicting not only a minimum of 8"-12", with some areas getting as much as 20", along with actual blizzard conditions. I said we would not see a blizzard and that we'd be lucky to get 2". What happened? We got 1.6" and no blizzard. And then, the forecasters got online and started WHINING about people not taking them seriously! I called WGN and cussed them out for whining about their own incompetence. Meteorologists = the boy who cried wolf married the broken clock that is right twice a day and had kids.

Wow! Better be very careful what you wish for!! Sometimes it can work out not to be such a great wish! With being snowed in means nothing is open like stores, banks, gas stations, even some factories depending upon how severe the storm is! You’ll have no fire and rescue able to get to places as quickly as needed to save lives because some roads and areas might not be plowed out yet! Then there’s the issue of the homeless people, pets, and other animals who are stuck living outside with no ability to have access to food, water, shelter, heat or proper way to stay dry and keep from freezing to death!! So sometimes you really need to think about the big picture of how or what your wish can do to everything and everyone around you!!!

You seem to be living in an alternate reality. The Chicagoland area has been above normal temps for days now, and the next 10 days are forecast to be normal to slightly above normal and no snow in the forecast. Marl my words, because I ALWAYS out-predict the "professional" meteorologists (I have no training whatsoever in meteorology). We will NOT see any snow (other than a possible brief non-sticking shower with zero accumulation, though even that is extremely unlikely) by Xmas, or during the rest of December, or for the New Year. Bet on that.
