The mdx also has a small transmission filter that’s hooked up to the cooler lines. Sits on top of the transmission. The best thing for these honda transmissions is to drain/fill 3-4 quarts per year. It’s the best insurance. The service manual’s transmission service interval is way too long. The fluid should be changed often and remain pink/red.

These things are so different. Mine had a spin on and no fill plug (well, it was just like the 'plug' you have here but I ended up filling it from the dipstick tube. This filter of mine looked also like it had never been changed. Sad. 189,000 miles. The service of this fluid though, since they don't recommend a filter all the time, is 30,000 miles, rather than say a regular type fluid interval of 90,000 miles. Change it every 30k and you shouldn't need the filter.

@JPN850R3 жыл бұрын
Any OEM parts online vendor should have IPC's and you should be able to find it out by punching in your vehicle model. Some auto manufacturers say the ATF is good for life, which isn't true (most people sell their cars before it needs ATF change). If someone is planning to keep a car for a long time, ATF needs to be changed at every 30K to 40K miles. What happens is that old fluid forms deposits inside if not changed regularly, and introducing clean ATF would melt/dislodge those deposits, which eventually clogs up fluid passages and renders an ATX inoperative. It only takes a tiny piece of FOD to make ATX inoperative. Some shops have cycling machine with which you do not need multiple drain & fill procedure. I would let such shops do the job as modern ATX is like clockwork.

I'm sorry but this transmission and engine are disgusting looking, I take him over to the self-service car wash spraying down with Degreaser to set for 5 or 10 minutes depending, and then use the hot soap selection to clean off all the oil grease and Road grime off the underside of the engine and transmission and down the sides and top of the engine But be sure to cover your alternator with a towel and a plastic bag to seal it off or any other thing that's electrical or electronic that may be exposed? Then use the hot wax selection on the carwash and then that will get rid of any old grease that's left over as well as underneath and on the sides of the engine and transmission, remember this stuff is going to blow backwards toward the back of the car underneath which is going to code everything that needs to be washed off or degrees including the differential unit if it's rear-wheel drive or transfer case if it's a four-wheel drive or truck

I have a heavily modified 3.0L 2007 Accord Coupe with 330 Wheel HP, running AMS Oil Signature ATF + 1/3 Quart Lucas Oil Stabilizer. @banetek Жыл бұрын
@@bundysgarage Hey. It's the guy with the 3.0L V6 Accord Coupe Road / Race Car... I finally had the trans filter changed at 135,000 miles. Because I'm a maniac and change my ATF like every 12k miles; it was not clogged, fairly clean and still functioning, and only had the slightest of extremely fine almost graphite like particulate in it. I am fairly sure that is a tiny bit of clutch pack from normal use. In doing its job correctly, a tiny bit of material very fine, will need to come off each time. But, what's important I think; is that the tiny bit of material that was in it, was smooth and silky like graphite. Anything gritty or chunky I would think is a bad sign. So in closing; yes you can pump the HP up significantly on a good J-Series Honda Transmission without damaging it. Even driving it hard / racing. But, only if you change your fluid very frequently and consider AMS Oil ATF.
