Gonna give this a try on my 03 mdx thanks for the upload, got some hard shifting in transitioning between Reverse, neutral, and drive and the occasional hard shift while driving got 300,000 miles so wasn't not expecting a problem haha. Good to see I didn't have to touch the transmission mount.

you could spray cleaner as you turn on and off the solenoids. You should clean the surrounding before removing solenoid packs, you have some dirty in the transmission now.

Thanks for this video! My ‘06 Pilot is super sluggish and slow to shift when it’s cold. Once it warms up to operating temperature, it shifts great. I’ll bet the screens on mine are partially clogged and the cold fluid is just too thick to get past the clogged screens quickly enough. Once it warms up, it’s probably thin enough to pass through with no problem. I’m going to try cleaning mine and see if it solves the issue.

@bundysgarage Yes, that’s the first thing I tried (and I used MaxLife ATF). I’m going to try cleaning the shift solenoid screens, and if that doesn’t work, maybe try the temperature sensor.

Nice video. I have a 2007 Accord with same v6 engine. I recently started having slightly delayed and harsh 1-2 shifting especially when engine is cold. It gets better when warmed up, but not best. I also noticed delayed 2-1 shifting. When slowing down, it tends to remain in 2 till I give it gas to move off, then it comes to 1. But absolutely no slipping. Oil is good level and not burnt, no much shavings the last time it was changed. I cleaned the solenoid, but it wasn't much dirty. Should I just change it? I don't want this harsh shifting to damage more things. Thanks
@No_Hookshot Жыл бұрын
If the selenoid isn't dirty, then it probably just means your auto transmission is in the first stages of going out. Have to remember, they are no more than internet plates with 'teeth' that eventually grind down and wear out over time. Best you can probably do at this time is try some lucas transmission fix and hope it hides the problem for a few k miles. Else, just drive the car until the tranny finally gives out and rebuild it or sell the car for scrap.

Update: so I've been having transmission issues for a year now. It was so frustrating to the point I nearly trashed the car. Several oil changes, tranny rebuild, tranny replacement, yet problem seemed to be getting worse with each effort at solving it. Ultimately, car will only engage 1st gear and will not make any effort to shift. Eventually, it was discovered that all the while, my problem was the ECU. Somehow, water from tha AC found its into the ECU and messed with it. Mysteriously only the transmission was manifesting. Every other thing in the car, including the engine ran fine. I'm just glad I didn't trash the car.

I would use an air gun and blow that whole area out before removing the unit so that all that dirt and crap doesn't fall down into those openings. Once they're into the openings, the next stop is your transmission.

Have a new to me 2005 Accord V6. Hard shift from 1st to 2nd if you accelerate rapidly from a dead stop. Found your video and decided to check the linear solenoid. Apparently someone had it off in the past and forgot to put the long pipe/tube back in. (Part # 22743-PW4-000) It was missing. Three small tubes looked clean but I flushed brake cleaner through them anyway. The solenoids both worked fine when tested as you demonstrated. Could the missing tube be responsible for the hard shift? Does it help control fluid pressure in the linear solenoid or is the fact that it's missing no big deal?
@bundysgarage Жыл бұрын
I don't think they control line pressure, they have little screens so they are tiny tiny filters. Most likely, your solenoid is bad.
@Fiat-Domine Жыл бұрын
@@bundysgarage Installed the 8x40mm pipe (the one without the screens) and it seems to have resolved the shifting issue. At least, I haven't been able to replicate it. No idea what that long tube does, but having it installed helped.
