2012 Honda Pilot. Was a 27mm for me. Also there is a plastic guide around the wires on the far left preventing getting that last left bolt. Had to remove the two bolts from the steering pump and move over out of the way. Then unbolt and scoot the wire guide out of the way and then I could get that last bolt out. Make sure you have a belt tool beforehand otherwise you will have a fun time getting it back on after putting steering pump back on.

Excellent video! I'm in the process of tearing my V-6 Accord apart to replace the knock sensor and decided to get some tips...I'm glad that paper towel trick works cuz you were shaking that socket and bolt around right above your intake runners... Thank you, I can continue ripping my car apart with confidence!

Thank you for this video, that was pretty easy. I will replace mine this spring when I do the valve adjustment. Call it preventative maintenance.

The fasteners you call 10mm are 6mm. The socket is 10mm to remove them. Good job.

Great video and very helpful! I'm part way in but there is a plastic piece (like a wire track) by the knock sensor bracket that is blocking removal of the lower manifold bolt. I cant figure out how to remove it. Help!
@wyattearp84 Жыл бұрын
no need to remove the intake., all you have to do is remove power steering pump and brackets that hold it, you ill need a small 12mm socket to remove power steering pump screws. for the knock sensor use 24mm wrench. plenty of room to reach in once power steering and brackets are out the way.

I have to ask I recently purchased an 08 with the J 35 had it only three weeks and I’ve got Yvette codes followed with variable misfires Honda charged me almost $800 for spark plug replacement and an oil sensor bank one sure enough less than 20 miles codes came back now they want another $1600 to replace the entire intake manifold and gasket and hardware just curious please if you could sir what were the symptoms

very good instruction on the knock sensor, I'm going to have to replace mine but did not realized it was berried that deep into the V do you have recommendation for a good scanner that can read EBS/ brake system faults which I think is on K-bus

Whats the approximate time to complete this job? Debating whether I wana do it myself or not. Also mechanics use flat time usually right? Like if it's a 2 hour job, i will likely be charged 6 or whatever flat rate is in the book?

Did you need new lower intake runner gasket? Also I heard you can clean the injectors out with brake cleaner while doing this would I have to disconnect each one from the fuel rail to clean or can I spray them clean while they’re still plugged in to the rail

Just Google it for your specific year make and model and you should see it pop up. Think it’s 16 lbs.-ft but then you will see the sequence as well.

I had my knock sensors replaced on my J series and now have a P0455 Large Evap Leak code. Do you have any reason to believe the install could cause this? My mechanic and I have run all the normal smoke tests and gas cap replacement. Curious is you thought something left or missed from this install could cause this code. Would appreciate any insight. Thanks

Is-it a good idea to change the knock sensor when doing valve adjustment?? I will be so close... No CEL or mouse problem in here. I was thinking if this could be a routine maintenance to do. My 2011 odyssey is 133000 miles on the clock. Thanks

That's a whole days work for an unseasoned mechanic. Assuming you don't destroy the engine (or fuel system) in the process.
