In this home tour, we are the guests of Claudia and Rainer Nowak, who have built a modern bungalow on a slope with Schwörer Haus - on a piece of land that is not exactly easy. This time we'll take a look at what their experiences were like and what ideas they implemented.
The floor plans and further information about this bungalow on a slope can be found here:

This bungalow on a slope with a flat roof was built as a prefabricated wooden house on a concrete basement and appears from the street side as a two-story cube in the Bauhaus style. In the basement there is space for a spacious entrance hall, a granny flat with a separate side entrance - which currently houses the living quarters of the two adult daughters - and the usual cellar and technical rooms. Living on one level is possible on the ground floor above, which was important to the builders in view of their age.
In addition to the hillside location, other challenges had to be mastered with the property: a railway line runs directly behind the border, and an existing property had to be demolished before construction could begin. The building family also wanted a large, easy-care garden with a terrace in front of the upper living level. In order to level the property, around 52 truckloads of soil had to be excavated, removed and disposed of.
The bungalow on the slope is accessed from below. A spacious hallway with connection to the double garage and a cloakroom forms the entrance area. From there, a straight staircase made of local oak leads to the prefabricated house on top - the actual bungalow. Here the design kitchen with cooking island and the light-flooded dining area with direct connection to the covered terrace are impressive. This roofing, which is architecturally beautifully integrated as a bracket, not only protects the parquet, but also shades the large panes of glass to the living area in summer. A pool and an outdoor kitchen in a separate garden house with WiFi connection turn the garden into an open-air living area. A utility room, which is also equipped as a side kitchen, is located behind the kitchen and is also accessible from the garden. The private area is entered via the dressing room, to which the bedroom and a bathroom are connected as an ensuite solution.
Since a railway line runs behind the garden, soundproof windows were installed. Thanks to the controlled ventilation system with heat recovery, the air in the house is always fresh without having to open the windows. In this way, the noise of the railway line is reliably blocked out. An air/water heat pump supplies the underfloor heating. The entire flat roof is covered with an elevated PV system. The family uses the electricity for the house and pool technology and to charge the two electric cars, for which a wall box was installed in the garage.
