Laments healing effect isn’t even that strong. It’s certainly not stronger enough to use in master/content raids or GMs outside very specific situations where the boss is completely staggered and you aren’t surrounded by ads. However today this almost never happens in new content. So if they make an encounter to use swords it’s going to have to fit someway into what I listed above. Especially if the rumored nerfs to Well of Radiance come to fruition. In GM/ Master Raids… a boss/champion stomp will kill you through a Well of Radiance unless you are guarding with your sword at the time.

I think this is the most slept on change. You are right. There are a few DPS weapons though that actually care about this but some shotties and fusion rifles are all in for this. And if they give us any heavy / special DPS weapon with graverobber in the FS, it’s going to be a very good choice for Day One based on this perk change alone.

11:29 here they are nerfing Lament, while simultaneously saying Well of Radiance is too strong and needs to be nerfed. they claim they are nerfing laments healing because it takes away from the downside of swords. Well it’s not like swords are some OP weapon that’s much stronger than everything else and using it is high risk high reward. In end game content you can’t use swords period… especially without a well… Lament is an anti barrier weapon but take lament into a GM and there’s very few circumstances where lament can be used safety versus using other options. Perks like laments healing at least made it viable a little more than other swords as difficulty goes beyond Legend. If swords were stronger than other weapons… it would make sense to treat them high risk high reward. However they aren’t. They are high risk, similar or worse reward than other heavy options. This is why even with Well of Radiance swords are rarely used on bosses. Well there’s a reason we always run Well and why we need it in end-game (master) raids and dungeons. Everything including the boss hits so hard that without it we’d wouldn’t be able to make use of a damage phase nearly as well because we’d spend more time killing ads in ever growing density ad dense encounters. Nerfs like this and those to divinity and well of radiance make me wonder how often the people making these decisions are playing End-game PvE. I’d be willing to be it’s less than the majority. Probably much less.

Holy run on sentence lmao. Whilst I can agree with you on lament, and maybe osteo considering other exotics can clear entire rooms nearly as well with their respective AOE. The removal of spec mods has entirely been negated by the buffs happening across the board. Most guns are better off now than they were before *with* spec mods. Just to preface, I main sunshot. The AOE damage is still going to be fine. This is in conjunction with a general exotic weapon nerf (so all exotics are on an even playing field) and a general hand cannon buff that stacks with the generic PvE damage bonus all weapons get when they load into PvE. This is only really a nerf to its effectiveness against majors and bosses, but you typically aren't trying to use add clear tools against them.
