Georgian pianist Khatia Buniatishvili and the Moscow Soloists Orchestra play the second movement from Chopin's first piano concerto. An amazing rendition indeed.

I have been playing piano since age 5, with many a (truly modest) academic and performance milestone in the intervening 60 years. Along the way, as for Chopin, I became aware of the Waltzes, the Etudes, the Polonaises. the Impromptus etc. Yet I never was aware of this concerto - and in particular this movement - until I came across it in the Jim Carrey movie The Truman Show. I immediately loved this piece. Then, a few years ago I visited Grant Park in Chicago on a summer day and found a full orchestra, with soloist, rehearsing this movement on a weekday afternoon in the sunshine. It is grafted in my consciousness ever since. How did this piece fly under my radar for so long?

You have no idea the flood of tears I have shed playing this heavenly composition over and over endlessly. I completely break down at exactly 55 seconds. I melt, flooding tears of emotion, surrendering to Khatia's female goddess energy. It is supremely soothing, embracing and of most devine celestial continuity. Absolutely heavenly.

I am amazed that you can hold up so long. I am good for about for about 20 seconds, just past the intro, then my resistance goes and I too am completely enmeshed. I have to limit myself to a concert or two daily. She is so addictive that I can't stop watching her majestic style and listening, and listening, and listening and watching. Better than best. A Goddess sharing her gifts and energy. Khatia's performances are a marvelous way to take a break from this troubled world and bask in all the profound beauty therein.

@@davisatdavis1 My bad, YT betrayed us again, it skipped from her concert in the "Police" version of "Roxanne" in her red dress playing Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody apparently to choreograph jiggles aplenty. I feel that is a big disservice to the music, and I would probably not think of complaining if it had not become SOP for all the record companies (yes, I mean you, Universal, and Sony, and other predatory capitalists "philanthropizing" music to death). In any case, I ranted enough for one performance at the Liszt! Apologies.

Exquisite performance of a wonderful work, spoiled by the desperately poor quality of the recording
Khatia is brilliant and has fascinating interpretation but to feel that this is just a bit too fast throughout. Personal preference but it seems to work better with a bit more time taken.

That isn't the ONLY thing that's artificial. I'm suspecting silicone, en largesse. What a mockery of stage attire for great music. Well, Liszt had a bad rep as a youngster. Hopefully, she'll follow his Muse and turn Franciscan as she ages. For now, she can get lost. Cover up, ***** woman. The (contemptuous cum whimsy) expressions of some of the orchestra males caught on camera are choice.
