Thank you for your comment! You noticed that when we dig in different parts of the map, the maximum depth can be different. We go down to the lower level of the map itself. Try choosing another fortress somewhere on a hill, perhaps the roughness of the lower level of the map will be sufficient there.

This is a cool idea if you really want to place your personal base in that zone. But honestly, we just took one over and I don't know what to do with it. My team of four people each has their own personal base in different zones. And we just build portals all over for everything. We actually made a stable small base where we beached our ship when we hit the Ashlands. It suits our purposes just fine. We port in and then either hop the walls to go exploring or use another portal to port into this new fort we just conquered. I figure we'll just establish portals wherever we conquer and just use them to get around so that we can bypass the mobs. Then we take everything back home to our home zones. At least those don't have the constant maintenance of putting bones in the shield generators.

I just did this last night. It’s not permanent because I destroyed the center tower, but I still wanted a safe fortress in Ashlands (I’m not as good at the game as some, so it’s the first one I was able to tackle successfully). I had to use grausten pillars at the bedrock level for the basement to get everything to stay structural, I’ll probably swap to flametal when I get extra. My main floor seems fine for all my crafting stations, hearths, etc. The top deck (exposed level) is turning into a castle all on its own. I may end up with a 4-level by the time I’m done. But I had no issues with things breaking, and even the grausten floor tiles stuck directly to the outter walls at the stairs. It’s a thing of beauty.

I don’t know whether it was just overhyped but I genuinely don’t find the Ashland’s very difficult. There seems to be a higher frequency of 2 star enemies, but I’m able to navigate around the Ashland’s solo with relative ease. Is it because people didn’t bother with magic before getting to Ashland’s? I built mine up quite a bit before ever setting foot there. I’m a decent player but I wouldn’t say I’m amazing that’s why I’m confused why there’s such pandemonium around how difficult Ashland’s is 🤷♀️

All these cries about the complexity of this biome started after the first days on the test server. There, the monster spawn was probably twice as high. Plus, no one understood what and how to do and what to expect from this or that monster. For me personally, landing in a new biome was comparable to D-Day. It took more than two hours. Not only did our ship collapse and my friend and I got stuck on the rocks, but after we got to the shore, the monster spawn was so high that we literally did not have time to fight them off. It was really cool! In the end, the developers heard the opinion of the majority of players and significantly reduced the monster spawn. And now, you come there and do not feel the level of excitement that we felt during the first test.

@@AdventurestGaming SHEEEESH that makes a lot more sense!! I only started playing Valheim reasonably recently so I’ve only just made it to Ashland’s in the last week or so and I was honestly so disappointed. I do understand why the dev’s changed it though I wish they had still kept it slightly harder. I genuinely still find Mistland’s harder 🥲 Thanks for the info!

@AdventurestGaming5 ай бұрын
What exactly do you mean "can't place floor on the top layer"?
@tobiasstaab43515 ай бұрын
The layer of stone floors where you placed the shield generators. I can build one line of the floors and the second one is already red. How do you support them? Ty for your reply
@AdventurestGaming5 ай бұрын
I started by snaping it to the corners of the fortress walls. You can see it on the video. Then continue around the outer line. Some times there are small gaps between the wall and the floor. Then you need to support these places with metal beams just a little bit. Then you have to follow the rule of stone structures. Two outer pieces will support the one between them. So you need to aling and build inner part ( the tower one ) and only after you can fill the middle of the structure.

I’m thinking the ashlands are gonna need a nerf. Badly, and soon. It took a buddy of mine in debug mode around 20 minutes to beat the boss. We were doing some testing and stuff, just to see what all we would be in for on release. Man, I don’t know how any of us are gonna beat it currently. It’s a nightmare
@AdventurestGaming8 ай бұрын
I have already completed almost all the content, with the exception of the battle with the last boss and the quest to find the fire sword. It was of course very difficult. Especially at the beginning, but then you start to get used to the situation. I want to say that when traveling through a new location it is much easier to avoid unnecessary clashes with monsters because there may be too many of them. You just run past in search of points of interest and there you are already fighting for your life.

While I agree it can’t be called step by step, I think we can all agree that there’s no way a five minute video would cover such a massive fortress. Not to mention while what he did looks pretty resource intensive it’s pretty straight forward and should be easy to replicate with your own touches.

@arthanor96319 ай бұрын
@corporateturtle6005 I'm curious: What did you love so much about the initial game that you still follow it despite disliking the Mistlands (I assume because of the fog? Everything else was very "vanilla" for Valheim) and being so convinced you will dislike the Ashlands (I'm not sure why.. it doesn't have mist, although it has other ways to challenge the player and the use of ranged weapons)? Do you not expect to find what you liked, or is it just that the annoyance will outweigh it? Why bother to play if you devcommand your way through? (I admit I did as well, but just because I was lacking pre-ashlands resources and couldn't be bothered to go back and grind).
@corporateturtle60059 ай бұрын
@@arthanor9631 Did you not actually play Mistlands to think "mist go brrrrrrr"? Had little to do with mist although it was a stupid and poorly implemented mechanic if we're being honest: The wisp had issues keeping up with a nonrunning player, couldn't at all for one running. The mist lamps didn't clear much and were a waste of resources to craft and place. The uneven terrain made melee combat problematic at best, useless at worse. If there was the slightest difference up or down you were guaranteed to miss 100% of the time as well as waste precious stamina. Speaking of stamina, most mobs could fly with no limitations making an already bad biome mechanic even worse. However that's not a Mistlands problem, combat itself is poorly designed and has been since release with no effort on the part of the developers to remedy this despite the massive disappointment and constant complaints from the community. But no "mist go bbbbbbbbbbrrrrrrrr" was not my main complaint.
@arthanor96319 ай бұрын
@corporateturtle6005 I see the mist as an indirect nerf to the bow. Same with the lava making most fights happen in smaller areas. Since it's the most common complained, I assumed it was yours too. I agree the steepness of the terrain and wisplight behavior were annoying. Neither of those are issues in Ashlands though, as the terrain is pretty smooth and there's no wisp mechanic. There also isn't any annoying "wait to harvest" mechanic like for sap and the underground parts are more like troll caves than mines, which is welcome. Combat is still valheim combat though, but as you say, it's always been like that. I think Valheim's problem is that for most of the community, the thrill of discovery is gone. The new stuff isn't quite feeling new enough (it's still pretty much the same recipe of difficult to get ores, special items in dangerous places, wood and food are non issues, unlike Mistlands which at least didn't have a metal), so it just seems like something to get over with, hence your devcommand comment I guess.
