I hope you don't mind me saying, but your videos really make me chuckle. as a beginner watchmaker I love your videos. They show me the real side of repairs. Everybody else's videos seem always perfect with no hitches. You show how it really is. Keep up the great work. I'm right there with you. Love it.

Thank you. The reason my videos are like this is because I have better things to do than edit out the mistakes and do a practice run. The most important thing is that I am not a watchmaker.

Train operator for the subway ill be honest that sounds like a pretty cool job to me. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and for the video it was thoroughly enjoyed.

Train operator is my third job since graduating from college. It has exposed me to things. My father would call it getting an education.

Hay Bunn, I have a Waltham Watch Company's Model 1892 Riverside with a broken lever spring. Would have parts? how can I get a hold of you to talk watches?
@bunnspecial4 жыл бұрын
I have no parts for a 1892. Either find a parts movement or measure the diameter or thickness of the spring and make one yourself. Send me your email.
@Donnybrook104 жыл бұрын
where do you source your parts? I need a balance staff and mainspring for my Elgin Model 4.
@bunnspecial4 жыл бұрын
I get my balance staffs, mainsprings and balance hole jewels from ebay. Also if I need any other parts I have to buy a parts movement from ebay. I bought some parts catalogs so I can find the part by part number not just from the movement model.

Looked a bit like the control handle from the Alco S3 I used to run. I figured probably subway. Nice. Multi-talented guy. :-)

I don't know the name of the braking package but it is subway. I use it on a train built in 1964. I know it is used on older ones also.

@@bunnspecial Ya, the loco I speak of was built in 1956 so apparently the units are of similar age.

I use a Sharper Image HD920 video camera on a tripod. I think the camera is ten years old. It will be replaced when it dies.

You’re trying to get the hairspring between the regulator pins with the regulator in the middle of its range. Adjust so the pins as far away from the stud and it’s easier to worry the spring between the pins. And please please please edit to remove the crap. We’re really interested in learning but please don’t make us look down every dead end. Check out Mark Lovick’s videos as an excellent example of how these can go.
@bunnspecial4 жыл бұрын
I agree with moving the regulator to the slowest setting. I have watched Mark's videos for many years now. He is a professional and I am not.

@@bunnspecial WOW! I feel special since you replied to my message. haha. I would like to request some more video on weighting down a pocket watch balance. I have a pocket watch I restaffed and its running fast. I checked the hairspring over and over and im thinking its out of poise. So my question is? Can you create a video with lesser amount of weights and show how it runs verses heavy amount of weights and show how it runs? I just thought it would be a interesting video and no one has done this on the internet.
