My grandad askew was a Bury fan, the last words he ever said to me were 'we shall be going to see bury at some point ' ( in his old fashioned twang) He walked out and then had a heart attack in the street. I never saw him again. I watched bury a few times but my closest team was Burnley , so I'm a Burnley fan but id go and watch the mighty shakers whenever we weren't at home. Bury died and so did my Grandad's club , football is a lot more than a game , it is family - luckily I still have my club but my thoughts go out to all the loyal fans who are now lost. It may well be a conflict of interests but surely in cases such as Bury some of the bigger premier league teams etc could organise friendly games against them at Old Trafford etc and let them keep most of the gate receipts or something. I know that Man United did something along those lines back in the 60s or 70s when Tranmere Rovers were in the shit financially. As far as I know, United were the only top flight team to pick up the phone back then and offer to help Tranmere. If it happened before then surely it could have happened again in Bury's case.

I'm not English but my partner is. Her dad is a lifelong loyal Bury fan so he introduced me to his club since mine is far away and for the past few years we used to go to Gig lane watch them. Even though I've been many times to Premier League stadiums especially in Manchester where we live, nothing can be compared to the atmosphere I felt there. From the first moment I could feel how much the community cared, buying a match program on our way in, eating a pie in the cantine outside the ground, a beer in the pub across the stadium after the game. Nothing can be compared with lower division football. It's pure love for the game. He still watches football on TV but since Bury 'died' it's not the same for him anymore. All it's left is the stories he tells me now and then about the old legends and how his wish when he visited the Wailing Wall on Jerusalem was for Bury to win the FA Cup (they got promoted though that year so he still says with pride that he might somehow helped lol). Owners like Dale and EFL should understand that they're not just shutting a souless business, they stop new memories being build, a grandpa taking his grandson to the game, new bonds between friends go on a away game road trip. I wasn't born a Bury fan but my heart is with them.

A tragedy - I remember going to Gigg Lane in the late 90s. As an away fan I remember going into a pub just outside the ground. I remember friendly locals and a great pint of local ale. One of the friendliest places I have ever visited as an away fan. What's happened at Bury is heartbreaking. Respect to the Bury people.

So much respect and admiration for the supporters of Bury Football Club. A great old club who we played in the football league a lot over the years, they were destroyed by a terrible ruthless owner. So sickening to see this happen to any club. My team Reading FC are currently at rock bottom and the owner is killing our proud club and the EFL are just punishing the club with continual points deductions, embargoes for a number of years now. We protested in a march against Dai Yongge at the weekend. Our fans are so drained by years of mismanagement by an owner who was rejected by the Premier League when he tried to buy Hull City and was approved by a not fit for purpose EFL. We were formed in 1871, the fifth oldest club in England. And right now we as fans are staring into the abyss, contemplating the loss of OUR football club is truly heartbreaking and I'd never wish it on any fanbase. I just wanted to say all the best to Bury FC for the future, I really do hope fans of other clubs can help the Royals in our fight against our crook of an owner and against the EFL.

Reforms and safe guards should be put in place from preventing this from happening again because this could happen to any club in England minus a few of the very biggest teams. Having seen this video, it highlights that at this level it is about ordinary working class people who are passionate about their local team. These same people that are the lifeblood of the club and are always the the least regarded (by the EFL / FA / Premier etc) and most affected when these situations are played out to their detriment. We generally have no say in the running of clubs (except fan owned) but regardless of this your voices are still being heard and not forgotten. I support Greenock Morton, back in 2001 we were put into administration, and were very nearly liquidated, thankfully we were saved. I hate to see any football team go bust, I know what it feels like, worrying if your still gny have a team to support or not and it's not nice at all. It breaks my heart to see teams going under like this but realistically it's because the money isn't enough. I’m a Leeds fan , but I’m absolutely gutted for not only the club the ppl who worked there local trade generated from games and most the fans to have your team and ground ripped from you is heartbreaking . The f.a all the millionaires in uk should be ashamed the club should have been saved . Shocking you have my deepest sympathy

So sad to see any club disappear. I hope that Bury are able to survive and rebuild. Genuine football fans care about the survival of all clubs (including local rivals) and the lower leagues still have the authenticity that the Premiership, with all its money, has lost. I know that social media is an open forum (and open to trolls and idiots), but the fact that many of the comments sections end up as places for nasty comments and petty arguments about different clubs, is maybe an indicator of how easy it can be for those who wish to exploit the game (and its clubs) to divide, conquer and manipulate true football supporters.

I alluded to this on another video, but what follows is adapted from a social-media post I wrote when Bury went under: The world of football has lost one of its oldest professional clubs. Bury Football Club was founded in 1885--the same year pro football became fully legal in England--and won two FA Cups, albeit back in 1900 and 1903. They hadn't played in the first tier since 1929, but they had been in the second tier as late as 1999. All that has died out. Bury were promoted to League One in 2018, but that didn't end their longstanding troubles with money. The team had played for months without pay despite being nominally professional. Steve Dale, a total crook, had paid some back taxes, but employees--players included--were still unpaid or paid late. When it all ended, the club was wound up with 2 million debt. As an American, I hadn't seen much sub-PL action on TV or over the Internet, but whereas North American sports clubs seek for maximum profit, those in England and elsewhere in Europe seek for maximum utility, which could mean such intangible things as the welfare of their communities. Or so I thought, which motivated me to shun the big six, unlike so many of my countrymen who follow the game, and to seek for the well-being of clubs below the top flight. To this day, my heart still goes out to Bury, their supporters and the community. Aldershot and Maidstone going belly-up was grievous enough, but the loss of Bury and other well-storied clubs crosses the line! Blame is widespread, but my first target is the Premier League, especially the aforementioned big six. They pretend that clubs outside that upper crust are as good as nonexistent or don't mean a thing, but that is just wrong! Why does the PL exist a world apart? If Rupert Murdoch had invested in porno rather than football, the game would be poorer in financial terms but richer in widespread vitality. The bigwigs' cowardice and greed, simply put, is where the grassroots game was abandoned, and even EFL clubs were left footing the bill. Even in next-door Scotland, the crises faced by lesser league clubs led to reunification as the SPFL in 2013. That seems a bridge too far in England, but at least the Premier League could use its vast collective wealth to factor in inflation and actually pay taxes. On the other hand, the EFL needs to tighten its so-called fit and proper test. Corrupt owners like Mr Dale cannot be allowed to own EFL clubs in the future. If that means sacrificing a promotion or risking a relegation, at least unrealistic ambitions will be sufficiently kept in check. The more clubs can be held to accept good, well-managed ownership, the better. Speaking of unrealistic ambitions, too much football fandom--and this is largely overseas from England and the rest of Europe--focuses on the select few in European competition. Perhaps all clubs in at least the UCL and UEL group stages should make regular payments to clubs in the rest of their national pyramids themselves. Additional solidarity payments could also be rewards for financial prudence in the lower tiers and having a good, clean owner or owners. All that being said, the business aspect is to be matched by a community aspect. This aspect isn't about promotions (wonderful as they are) or relegations (as much as clubs would like to avoid such a fate). It's about communities, a home away from home. Even if it's for but two hours or so! O town of Bury, my heart cannot contain your grief. Even so, I share your fainting and weeping.

My heart breaks for you and the Bury supporters. As a Bolton fan and knowing how close we were to losing our club i feel saddened for you and sickened that the EFL have allowed this to happen. They are not fit for purpose never mind their owners test. They should hang their heads in shame. I hope you can get back into the league and playing football at Gigg Lane

I am not really football fan, but you can't help but feel sorry for the people of Bury. The club seems to be a massive part of the community and it seems like a family orientated club with regards to the fans...It is a great shame that two owners who was suppose to bring financial instability into the club have now have left the club on life support. I hope that the football league will one day show some compassion to their plight and reinstate them back again where they should be!

As a fan of football this is horrible. I am a Plymouth Argyle fan and we took the promotion Bury earned and it didn't feel right for me or any of our fans. I started going to see Plymouth Argyle when i was 9 years old and we we were in the championship. Know that the whole of the Footballing community is with you.

Remarkable how Bury got promotion under those circumstances. Such a shame what happened after that, absolute disgrace. Hope you can get something sorted and do something like an Accrington. Good luck.
