Thank you for this. I had the privilege of hearing this live. So thankful Pastor Parsons had the guts to say we can’t recommend local churches anymore… I know exactly what he means.

Great sermon, thanks for posting. What’s the rough breakdown of attendees at Ligonier conferences? Is it mostly pastors & seminary students, or is there a fair number of ordinary believers?

Thank you for your interest. While many pastors and students attend, our conferences are largely attended by ordinary believers.

Mr. Parsons came dangerously close to canonizing the creeds there. Very dangerous word game there. Some very good points about general theological illiteracy, however.

16:18 min. into video... "Indifferentism about doctrine is the mother of all heresies". And yet, Scripture alone defines the sabbath day as 'the seventh day', not men. God blessed and sanctified both The seventh day and marriage before the Fall, and they are still blessed (Eccl.3:14). The sabbath 'unto the LORD' is not even mentioned until Exodus 16:23. And Ex.16:26-30 is Scripture that is a commandment before it becomes the 4th commandment in Ex.20:8. A pastor once said, "Show me where Christians observed The seventh day in the NT and I'll start 'resting' on it." Heb.4:4 and Luke 23:56 were pointed out, yet he was still "indifferent" because others think it was changed. Rev.1:10 was his whole argument, which, when compared to 1Cor.4:3, proves that it refers to 'judgment', meaning God's time of judgments on ungodly men, that pervert both His law and His gospel (Rev.14:7). Both the 'everlasting gospel' and 'every word' of God are vital for believers in Christ. Today it is still true: 'My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of My lips' God says (Ps.89:34).
