MG4 EV iSmart App, the app for your new car and what it can do

Here we have a quick run through of the main functions of the companion app for the new MG4 EV. You can check whether the car is locked, tyre pressures, battery level and range, temperatures inside and out, start the climate control to pre heat or cool the car, set a charging schedule and much more. If you have a Trophy you can use your phone as a Bluetooth key as well, with keyless start.

For the SE SR version, it's safe to always charge to 100%, be because it has Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, which are more robust.

@@Kahvetrip It supports 'Intelligent pre-heating', which is to pre-heat the battery immediately prior to Rapid charging to improve the charging speed in cold weather. I've never used it, because the weather has never been cold enough. The MG4 has automatic battery thermal conditioning for normal operation.

Hi- thanks for your channel- so much more informative then my dealer. Just bought a new trophy- I can’t bond the car to my app- I’m being told this is a universal problem with the app- is that everyone else’s experience or am I being placated?

Great video 😃 I'm curious about the share key button on the digital key screen. Is it possible to have to phones connected to the car at once?

Unfortunately not, digital key sharing has now been permanently removed due to security issues.

@@BurlSolomonsYes - I’m not surprised. Just seems like a bad idea to make the car completely unlockable & driveable via bluetooth. Once the system security is broken every car thief on the planet will be able to download the necessary hacking app to their mobile. Just seems like a dumb idea.

Thanks for this useful video. Do you ever get the message on the app when it’s trying to refresh saying “the status checking failed please try again later” I am therefore unable to connect with my app to the car. It’s seem to happen quite often !

Yes that does happen as the car seems to go to sleep completely. If you are in range of the car with the key, unlocking often it wakes it up so that the app will reconnect.

My ismart app always failed to connect to the car.. Only once a while able to connect.

Can you leave a dog in the car with the HVAC controls? How long does it stay on for etc? Do you need a sim card in your car to control it when your away from home?

You could leave the car on and unlocked with HVAC on, but then the dog wouldn't be secure. The HVAC stays on for 10 minutes on remote control from the app, as long as you like on the car if you don't lock it, but there may be a low battery cut off point (it was 20% on the Zoe)

@BurlSolomons that's cool thanks. So they need to bring an update out for dog mode before that can work. Doors locked and on for as long as needed.

thanks, can you turn on and off the V2L via the App ?? or do you have to do it on the screen in the car ?

Sadly there is no app access to V2L at present, it's only accessible from the charging tab on the car's infotainment home screen

Hi Burl, great videos. I am having issues binding the app with the car. The card is able to login and recognises what it is. The app never seems to be bound as it keeps saying bind first. How do you get this to work Thanks J

Yes it covers most of the same functions. No remote key on the SE, no heated seats.

Hi mate Did you drive your MG4 with digital key? I got mine on 13 of January and this Bluetooth key only allow me to look and unlock the car

What annoys me abou tthe App is that it does not reflect the Charging Schedule set in the car. The car is set to 00:30 (ish) to 04:40 (ish) but the App says 22:00 - 06:00. Dammed silly.

Too bad this is only for the trophy version.. I think if the trophy had the powered tailgate I'd splurge for it..
