Vanakkam Sir. There were several Burma repatriates living in our neighborhood in Perambur, where I did my schooling in the late 60s and early 70s. I had many classmates who were Burma repatriates at R B.C.C.High School, Perambur. I visited Burma Bazaar many times in search of foreign goods, when we could see some genuine repatriates from Burma. But now, it is dominated mostly by muslims from Keelakkarai and Ramanathapuram coast.

I remember the song Mere Piya Gaye Rangoon sung by C Ramachandra and Shamsad Begum V interesting information. Next time seeing a Muniswarar temple this episode will come to mind There's a Muniswara Temple in Bengaluru MG Road close to Bengaluru Central. Would it have a relationship with the people of North Arcot

I have seen Burnese Refugees coming to Takuk office to collect cash given by Government. They wear lungi over the shirt and not under. In fact, a refugee by name Rajan used to work in our Testaurant in Ponneri opp.to Rly station as help to grind idli rice etc.He is still alive in Gummidipundi. Some were settled in Gummidipundi by Madras Government. You omitted to mention this .
