What type of paper is that? Is it just rice paper or is it a special paper to use for burning?

Great question! This is Wafer paper! Some call it rice paper, it's completely edible and with an edible printer you can put any image on it like a normal sheet of paper. 💕💕

what about the ashes? doesnt taste the buttercream burnt?

not really. the paper is the only thing that burns and nothing else around it, it's just the paper. and in my experience, wafer paper trends not to ash, i assume because it's made of starch and oil.
