I think what they are refering to is the STP (Standard Temperature and Pressure) which in chemistry is fixed at 25°C / 1013,25mbar. This at least in chemistry is often considered "Room Temperature" and "Room Pressure" (1atm)

Fecking fantastic Geoff! I have been on the Monocure3D mailing list for years, but I haven't been 3D printing anything during that time. Thanks to your review, I have ordered some of the Burnaway castable resin, as well as some of their Monocure3D Rapid TUFF Resin. I'm just about ready to get printing and casting again, so your timing is impeccable as always mate! Unfortunately, resins are somewhat expensive for the amateur hobbyist, who isn't going to sell the final product and therefore recoup the cost. This makes your reviews invaluable to a HUGE market, to help find what works, and to avoid wasting $$$. Also good to see an Aussie company stick it's 'head' up and put it's products to an unbiased and honest test. Plus, at the time of writing this, they do have the basic settings for my printer! Yay!

Dear, dear, Geoff, may I suggest that perhaps adding vent sprues at the “east” and “west” locations of the medallion (imagining a compass face on it) would allow both gases and bronze to flow more easily, the porosity of the mold notwithstanding? But as usual, good stuff.
@vogman4 ай бұрын
Can we vent with vacuum casting? I've often wondered if it's possible...
@FranklyWry4 ай бұрын
@@vogman Technically you’re just adding two more sprues that will improve the flow of the metal around and through the piece; that it improves the venting by giving the gas another exit is also another benefit, given the locus of the points of attachment. But then I only ever gravity cast using ceramic shell and investment molds at the foundry where employed for several years until the economy forced it to close.

yeah from my experience monocure has really good resins at reasonable prices even for their more esoteric material property resins. As last I checked they where the only people selling a lower durometer flexible resin for not "contact for pricing".

I haven't been watching you for a while, but due to a customer of mine needing some help and advice about castable resin, I need to get up speed with these things. So, I return to the man who can! (Thats you BTW VOG.)

That was an honest review! 😂 Firstly I want to say, I live in South Australia where Monocure3D are based. It’s great to see there new burnout resin is a standout when compared to whats available globally. From where I am sitting(upside down to you😂) you struggled to find fault with the actual product. 😑 I’ve been following you for years, and have not yet been able to afford to buy the equipment. But rest assured, I’ll be using MonoCure3D resin the first time I do, thanks to you. Please keep up the honest quality content. Oh and thanks for the sh#ts and giggles along the way. 🇦🇺🤜🏼🤛🏼😊🍀☮️☮️☮️

You know what I want to buy, but can't find anywhere? Nordic gold buttons. Like shirt & coat buttons. Could be a good return on investment for a scrapper out there.

I really want to get into casting metal using 3D printed objects but the whole process looks daunting. Thanks Mr. Vogman for providing such good videos and inspiration. However, from what you have shown on your videos, you need a lot of equipment and skills. I have both FDM and Resin 3D printers. I do not have a furnace. I see sprues are a thing and they look critical to get an outcome. You need materials to make the mould from and ways to vacuum out the air bubbles. Size seems to matter as you obviously have limits imposed by how much metal you can melt. After it/s cooled you need a Dremel with cutting discs and brushes, then polishing. It all sounds exhausting.

Once you're doing it, it's surprisingly simple and obvious... but try this video. It may help you find a few cheaper DIY options kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4XYpYKYeceri9E

I use monocure Resins, I order them in from NSW takes 2 to 3 days from order to delivery to my Address in New Zealand. If I ordered the same product in new Zealand it can take up to a week to arrive.

Note that the marketing hype claims "Optimal" temperatures of 25 degrees, and not a necessary temperature. It may very well work well enough at lower temperatures. (I'd like to see you do a print at your "room temperature".

Ah... but that's the issue... what is room temperature? 😁

I know what you're saying, but ironically in this video I set the temperature 10 degrees higher than normal. But I agree, it was sluggish.

@@vogman its not just a case of hitting the temp it needs at least 15 mins holding at that temp once melted or you will always get cold pores
