Wow!! All that work and trouble makes the $65 I spent on paying someone to grind my stump seem totally worth it!!!

How did you find someone to do it for $65?

I grind stumps and that's about what I would charge for a 24" stump. You can likely find someone locally by looking under stump grinding on craigslist (under services provided).

I have some 20 4" - 7" stumps from beetle borer, carpenter ants, & grape vine kills. (A tough year) Watching all these labor intensive stump removals make a rental stump machine look pretty good.

A green stump will take months to burn out of burning several times. A dead stump will burn out in one or two burns. I do it all the time. Drill holes in a green stump, buy a bottle of stump killer, 3 to 6 months it will just decay away depending on stump size.

Good effort but i use more saltpetre (nitrate ) for a few months to let it sink down into the deep roots. then cover to get as dry as possible. then I set up an old oil drum with ends out split em, & use 2 for a big one. Done right it even burns out the roots, looks like the gate to hell down in the ground, The idea is to get the hot fire deep in & keep it going so as to actually dry the moisture using the heat of its own burn .this can take a while as the soil must dry then insulate the heat in, Have a barbeque with the neibours & alls well but keep the garden hose handy , should not need a blower as this burns off the top burning layer too quick to steady heat dry the damp wood further in,

great tip from another video was to drill holes from the side in the base to give good airflow.

You can do it for less than a dollar, find a old dryer machine on Craigslist. Pull out the steel roller (barrel) and cut off bottom and scrap the rest at recycler for few bucks. Place it over stump. Put a steel pipe under the steel canister attach to blowdryer. Put wood scrap inside canister. Sprinkle some diesel which is slow burning and cheaper, never ever use gasoline. Set it on fire. The blowdryer feed oxygen to the fire like a furnace it get super hot it will burn everything inside to ashes even the bottom of stump. Don't need to shovel ashes in dumpster. Just mix with some dirt and water. It good fertilize because of potassium the grass need.

Lift the metal container at lease 2" off the ground so air gets to the bottom it will burn allthe way to the ground.

I think a second fire would have taken care of it. Or maybe more air at the bottom. I'm doing one soon at my vacation home. Going to use an old front load dryer tub. Stainless, a little bigger than the barrel trick, already have it, and all the pollutants from the dryer itself I'll bottle up for the tree huggers and send out free of charge. Then I'm gonna go google GFY, cuz the world doesn't know what that means yet. Bye bye mulberry #3. Good video Mr. Lancaster, it was helpful for my project

1 1/4", or larger, paddle-bit with an extension. Drill a hole in the center of the stump about a foot deep. Drill 3 or 4 more holes about an inch from the center hole in equal spaces surrounding the center hole. Fill surrounding holes partially with cooking oil. Drop lit 15 minute road flare, flame end first, down center hole. The flare will burn out in about 5 minutes, then drop in a second flare. The surrounding holes will ignite and burn into a single cavity. Drop BBQ charcoal briquettes into cavity. Let it burn and smolder until there's just a hole with some ash in the bottom of it.
@aenorist2431
@aenorist2431 7 жыл бұрын
Or just drill 4-8 Holes from the sides down into the bottom radially (air intake). Prime the center hole. Wait a day, chimny effect does the rest. No additional fuel needed. Burning a solid mass (that does not really want to burn) from top to bottom, which is what you are doing, is a rather silly proposal.

Once we cut the strunk just below the grass using a cheap chain. And add sand on it. But maybe that was not possible for your situation or you need to get rid of the strunk ?

so I just got the fire department showed up asking me to put out tree stumps I was burning. They handed me the outline for the city which states only bond fire & cooking is allowed. I am thinking about making a bond fire on top of the tree stump... seems like a loophole right?

$104 for 4 hours. Minimum I could get an arborist to do it was $250. I live close to home depot so I was able to rent it and literally push it home (6 houses away). I have also dug stumps out. Which can take many hours. I live in Arizona. www.homedepot.com/tool-truck-rental/Stump-Grinder/SG1314B/

Another using more wood when all you had to do was drill a hole in the middle, four holes from the side at a slight downward angle, pump in a bit of starter fluid in the hole and then stuff and light some news paper in the center hole and light it then let the Swedish log stump become a rocket stove. None of this wood and more wood for several days, wood you could use in the fire pit/place. Your methods that soe others also showed, just shows how useless this method is compared to what I first said.

Perfect. Suggestion. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nYfaeXVnZ7GlsKs has a charcoal retort-like drum he burns in. Great idea. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKSlmqScg792f5I drilled and sawed into the stimp, even greater idea. When I get to it will I combine all your methods. Leaf blower-booster is brilliant. Thank you. If we didn't have rules there would be pure anarchy, then follows martial law then that tree stump pie you made me I'd make you eat it. Then again why wait around for martial law to kick in to force you to eat the tree stump pie you made me. Anyhow, I don't eat dessert, could you possibly make me a souffle instead.
