Smoke might make a little sense for fuel with little to no oxidizer, to choke it out. The problem with that is that the devs wanted lasers to counter smoke better. Ps: try out APS with incendiary smoke, it looks absolutely awesome!

I did not realize that aim point can target fires, that's so cool. That means that you could make Pathfinder-like WWII bombers that light up the desired targets, probably a bit inefficient but ah well. Also, i love you enthusiasm for crams, i finally learned how to use crams after all these years and i now understand why you like them so much.

I also saw that the fires have an IR signature, which makes sense but gives me ideas for IR missles that will aim for the fires and punch through the weakened armor

The thing I'm curious about is how fire combines with low ap attacks. For example smoke reduces ap of lasers, so what if you combine flamethrowers and lasers to first reduce the ac then let the lasers have their fun. Thumper pacs also have terrible ap (I think 15 but I could be wrong), they could really benefit from lower ac. Idk what do y'all think?

@@moekitsune The reason I won't do that is cause lams on the nastier campaign crafts tend to be really good at shooting down aps. Personally i quite like purely smaller KE aps so I can pretty much ignore their lams.

Might change the posidonia to use fire crams and flame throwers, cause it completely makes sense to use fire on an extremely fast wooden craft On another note, incendiary crams seem most useful against relatively compact craft, but against mostly hollow ships they may struggle to target blocks. Might be better to have a certain radius for block finding, then again incendiary crams are incredibly powerful otherwise

2 applications of fire that need to be tested: the first is making use of coal piles (costs 8 mats) by setting them on fire with low intensity flame source to generate cheap controlled fires for aimpoint spoofing and signal processor proof flares, the second is just a gimmick for lols and is that fire acts as a DOT with duration corresponding to fuel and collisions interacts with fires thus using coalpiles to fuel a fire and then spread it to an enemy is possible.

How does the incendiary property interact with other pellet types? Will HE prevent the target from catching fire by breaking the burning block, or will the fire start at the edge of the explosion? Can you use this with a timed fuse to get more reliable hits, or does it require a direct impact to light fires? I expect fragments don’t interact with the mechanic at all, but it would be cool if they did. I’d also like to know if depth pen cram can be built to deliver the incendiary effect to more advantageous locations, or if it’s always better to just skip that and avoid the possibility of over-penetrating and wasting the fire component entirely.

So far it seems you need a direct impact and the fire will start at the closest block affected by the shell, like how EMP works. And yes, pen-depth incendiaries work. And they're terrifying. :D

i hope that damage to the area the fire starts at adds more to the fuel to make frag/ or expl/inc missiles or rounds in general even better would be an incentive to add fire exstinguishers too i suppose either way biiiig fire good :)

I'm not sure. Fire does burn faster the faster a craft is moving, so spinners might burn faster? We'd have to test that.

I think it does, I don't think the devs said anything and my space craft have definitely been damaged by fire, but this might be another underwater like situation where it needs oxidizer.
