Recently, Burrell officials held a hard hat tour of the three-story building. This 40,000 square foot space will be transformed into a state-of-the-art medical education facility. Burrell will occupy the top two floors.
“This expansion signifies our unwavering dedication to improving access to high-quality medical education in Brevard county . We are enthusiastic about creating an environment where our students can thrive and have a substantial impact on healthcare in Florida,” said Burrell Florida dean campus, Doris Newman, DO, FAAO.
Burrell's decision to expand into Florida underscores its commitment to addressing healthcare disparities and delivering top-tier medical education to underserved communities. The renovated facility is being equipped with advanced laboratories, cutting-edge simulation centers, and modern lecture halls to encourage student collaboration and innovation.
Situated within the FIT campus, this strategic location will foster interdisciplinary learning, offering an environment that nurtures holistic healthcare education. Burrell also intends to forge strategic partnerships with local healthcare providers and community organizations to reinforce community engagement.
"The collaboration between Burrell and FIT represents a significant milestone for our institutions. We eagerly anticipate welcoming a dynamic community of students and faculty to our campus, enriching Florida's educational landscape and healthcare resources," added FIT’s president, Dr. John Nicklow.
