Quick story, when I was 22yrs old long ago I injured my neck doing bridges and developed migraines. I went to an M.D. and he put me on muscle relaxers and pain pills for about three weeks. I was walking around in a haze. Still suffering, I then remembered an osteopath that I had when I was a child that was still practicing went to him I Explain my problem he had me lay down on the table give me a quick neck adjustment and the pain went away within one day and I haven’t had any problem and in 42 years years. Needless to say, this really blew the ego of the MD that I used to go to because when he found out that I went to another doctor, he told me to take my business elsewhere he had his receptionist tell me this on the phone. Never regretted my decision, osteopathic doctor for me. That’s the only way I go. 👍

I'm on my 1st year of pre-med now, I just found about about what D.O is from Dr. Mike and I was so inspired to pursue this when the time comes, Lord willing! I was so in love on how DOs check for their patient wholly, considering every aspect of the patient's life in order to aid them in the best possible way. Unfortunately our country doesn't have this kind of schooling, but I am still hoping and believing that I will be able to pursue this degree by God's grace. As I desire to learnmore about it, I'm so glad I found this video, it's very clear and great explanation. I am now even more inspired to push for this dream because of this. Thank you, Dr. Caudle! 😊 And also, I really love how you speak, so gentle and kind. God bless you and keep safe always, Dr. Caudle 🤗

I am from Iowa and now accepted to a DO school! I love the philosophy and especially the country i come from, there is only one type of medical degree (similar to MDs) so when i immigrated to America, I fell more in love with the Philosophy 😊 my physicians were also DOs -and I could relate to all your experiences in this video :)

Hi Dr. Caudle! I'm truly grateful for you completing this video. I wish I could speak with you more regarding your Osteopathic journey. I'll be completing my bachelor's in Health and Wellness in June of this year but with a gpa of only 3.4. I got a little discouraged when considering my GPA being looked at as low (according to other KZbinrs). Do you think there is any hope for me? Thanks Again!

Before I knew your channel, I didn't even knew that osteopathic medicine was a thing. However, before it, I've heard about osteopaths themselves being a different kind of massage therapy, but even that information can be misleading and I have too much to learn!

How often do you treat an individual? I started with a new osteopath who supposed to be great. He is also very expensive and doesn’t take insurance. It felt like he barely did anything and then the next appointment wasn’t for another month. He sees people once a month. This seemed very odd to me and I feel like it’s not very helpful. I’m going to go a second time but I’m skeptical. And yet people rave about him. I felt nothing different after the first visit. Can you shed a little light on the subject.? How often do you see your patience?

Making a decision over which field to specialize in is really tough. I hope it will come to me when I get there. All I can say so far is I love surgery and it's Orthopaedic vs Cardiothoracic surgery. Maybe I'll change again. Like I said, tough.

At age 34, with a Bachelor of Pharmacy (5 year program), 2 years work experience as a clinical pharmacist, a Master of Radiopharmacy and a year of work in Nuclear Pharmacy, and 5 years experience as a hospital pharmacist I applied to medical school and was accepted at age 34 to the College of Osteopathic Medicine oF the Pacific (now Western University of Health Sciences). There were 3 pharmacists in my class and 4 RNs. I am 70 no and a semi-retired radiation oncologist. 30 is NOT too old to go to medical school. The oldest person in our class had a PhD and had taught at a medical school in Dominica. She was in her LATE 40's when she started osteopathic medical school and was in the top 10% of the class academically. Let me know when you decide to apply and get accepted. Fact: "DO students are amazing & intelligent people, as my daughter was already ACCEPTED in a Medical School (MD) in Texas, and still waited & CHOSE the DO school (also in Texas), as it is COVER more than just allophatic medicine, as OSTEOPHATIC medicine ADDED more studies about the body & mind, that includes even spirit" Have a great day to y'all!

@DrJenCaudle Ostepathic medicine is a pseudoscience. It doesn't matter if 99% of you're course work is the same as an MD's, if you're willing to believe in some pseudoscience without evidence, you're likely to be willing to drop scientific values to believe in more in the future. DOs are one step away from being a part of a cult like the chiropractors. If you could, you'd be prescribing patients homeopathy.

Hello Dr. Jen thank you so much for this video. I am an aspiring med student, I also like the way osteopathic schools approaches medicine in a holistic way, mind, body and spirit. What advice would you give to an aspiring DO and what age do you think is best to study medicine, or is there a cutoff age for medical school. 🤍🤍🤍
