Thanks for a calm and pleasant movie. Being able to enjoy one of your films over a cup of good coffee is a fantastically pleasant start to the Saturday morning.😊 Best regards! /Joakim Innala

Absolutely stunning. I can’t begin to imagine the amount of time and effort that went into this masterpiece.

Thanks, and glad you enjoyed it. I kept a log of construction progress over the years, and ended up finding that I spent an average of two hours per week over 35 years, which works out to about 3500 hours, which is the equivalent of about a year and a half of full time effort. The key, though, is we only moved houses once during that time, due to having a career that didn't require me to move. Thanks for your comment!

I enjoyed watching your video I have been collecting trains since 1987. I was 5 years old. When I started now 11 years ago I started a moderate group in my garage. And you're right, it's awesome to have friends come over to run the trains we started art club of July 2013 and to hear the story of you of 1984 of starting your layout. Thank you for the stories and I also like the the dance by the railroad station. That's a great idea

Yes, it's a lifelong addiction, playing with trains! Although I guess with all these videos out in the open, we could hardly call our meetings "Model Railroaders Anonymous!" One of these days I'll wire up a motion sensor and speakers so when the train goes by the swing dancers, jazz music will play. How can we not do that??

Thanks! One of these days we'll install some underwater lights so you can see the mermaid in there guarding a pot of gold from two approaching divers.

Very cool Mr. Stewart. I'm late to the game on your videos, have been trying to catch up when I get time. It's great to see a view of the the whole layout. Very nice. Enjoyed it very much. Keep up the great work, looking forward to many more videos. 👍

Thanks. I've been so occupied in making videos that most of the progress on the railroad now comes from friends coming over to play...

Thanks for watching. I think I'm enjoying the art of video production almost as much as model railroading. It's definitely another learning curve to climb!

Had my first train set in 1983, as a Christmas gift, it almost went extinct, but something sparked me and now it's a lot of equipment in a small 33' Holiday rambler trailer

Burr, Congratulations on your centennial. Too bad BN never had a DD40x to celebrate. Maybe UP should run one up there from Portland to celebrate. Regardless it was a joy to see your layout in person just about a year ago. Thanks you again for letting me wife and I come over when we were passing through Seattle last year. Here's to another 100.

Congratulations on a never ending growth of your railroad. From a past epiosde of yours and this one, you mention two names that I thought I would never hear again, one, Brian Elchlepp and Tim Smith, if he is the one from WSDOT fame, from the old BN Model Railroad Club at King Street Station. I liked them and hope they are doing well. Love seeing the layout coming to my old neighbour hood of Wallingford. Are you going to model the old Gas Works???? It had some neet operations and being Northern Pacific doesn't hurt either. Be seeing you.
@muchfunwithtrains18 күн бұрын
Yes, Brian and Tim are both doing well and are still fine fellows. They seem to be making this place into a new BN Model Railroad Club!
@stevek415318 күн бұрын
Always enjoy your sharing of the layout. With the time required to record and edit videos, organize operating sessions and maintain a large and complex layout, where do you find time to update and expand it?
@muchfunwithtrains18 күн бұрын
The short answer is "I don't." The longer answer is that I have a weekly train party where a handful of people come over and work on the layout or run trains or both, so it's sort of turned into a club layout. That's why there's usually a lot of chatter going on in the background during my videos. And we're making slow but steady progress on it.

I love this layout and would like to see it during the next open house. I would like to know more about the filter box with the fan on top and whether its useful. Thanks, John
@muchfunwithtrains18 күн бұрын
That's a good idea. There are already KZbin videos out there about how to make a "corsi box", but no reason I couldn't do a quick demo during a future video. It's an inexpensive and high volume filter, and not only has it reduced virus transmission, but it's also reduced the dust in the basement air to a high degree.

what's the guidance/method to do layout diagram at dispatchers desk? do you have a resource?

Let's see if Robin responds to this question, but I believe he made the first draft using Microsoft PowerPoint.

I wish you weren't across the nation from me. None of our local model railroads hold a candle to the size and scale of operations on your layout. Until I build my 40x25 layouts.

Keep looking...you may find others near you when you're least expecting to. This has definitely happened to me. And be sure to join the NMRA and participate in local events, if you haven't. And thanks for your comment!
