Ken Poznaniack's Incredible HO Railroad!

Ken Poznaniack is an incredible modeler, and his HO railroad shows it. The Layout was started in 2000 not 2020 as stated in the video. There are many custom-made automated coal loaders and displays all over this multi-level railroad. There is an operating track laying train that I estimate to be over 25ft long and works! Many items ive never seen like the giant Cat bulldozers and many custom scenes. The big coal dozers are Kibri . There is a rail laying train with the rail made by Plastic Rail Protoloads in NC. Operating sessions on the layout are very impressive . Fred Eisen trains on KZbin also uploaded an ops session video on this layout as well @fredeisen7401

You gotta be kidding.😮A working Railroad. And he did all this from 2020? Insane amount of work. If you got money, time, and space, i guess anything is possible. Blown away. Thank you for showing !❤

This is amazing. I remember that layout at Edgewood Arsenal. My mom worked at the proving ground and took me to see it on one of their open house days. It was fantastic, and really blew me away as a kid. I wish I could have seen it more than once.

In case you may not know, in real-life coal loading the engine has a special gear that allows it to pull the train so slowly through the chutes. I find it intriguing to see a model railroad modeling so much coal and still be awesome to watch. As you all know, most model railroads feature beautiful natural scenery. Great job, Ken!

Awesome model railroad! I've visited Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg 4 years ago, but I've never seen something like this realistic, industrial railroad. Except the bucketwheel excavator from Revell and the big 'Cat's' (in fact those are iconic Komatsu D575's, much larger than Cat's biggest dozer: the D11) everything looks very realistic. The bucketwheel excavator on display is too big, but I know there's no model of a smaller stacker/reclaimer available. In that case it has to be scratchbuilt. I live in the Netherlands, in the neighbourhood (app. 70 km) of the three largest RWE lignite mines in Germany where those huge bucketwheel excavators are in operation. I visited the mines 3 weeks ago. I collect 1/50 scale Caterpillar and Komatsu mining equipment as well as heavy equipment haulage and windfarm haulage and a few large cranes.

Wow, @Al Pugliese Trains, I am so impressed and now even motivated to get back into the sunshine and work on my layout. That quarry with that huge mining machine. OMG! That was just so cool to see. The fun little things too like the bathers all taking a swim and sitting around the pool. The Pumpkin patch. The Mooners 'out' on show. Just gobsmacked to see that rail train, and it even lays rail. Outstanding! At around 9:30, just after the wedding, you show and talk about the Parking Station and mention that nobody does such a kit. Scale scenes do that in card, OO (1/76) and N (UK) (1/148) . In Japanese N scale (1/150) look for Aoshima and Greenmax for multi level parking stations. I do like the super-size of Ken's though. In fact, Al, I wouldn't mind seeing a longer 'visit' if such was ever contemplated. I am sure there is so much to see still, even after your great coverage seen today.

Dear Al, in the mid 90’s on a trip into Germany on the A61, traffic was halted for the transfer of the giant ‘Schaufelradbagger,’ as the Germans call this enormous machine, whilst it was moved from the Garzweiler I open pit mine towards the newly to be excavated Garzweiler II field. At least, at that time it was still a field. Don’t recall how much time it exactly took for the transfer over the Autobahn. It was too ominous a sight, was magnificent to watch and be an eyewitness of. The efficiency of all the support vehicles, laying out the also giant road protection elements was in itself worth the wait. On the berms of the road, including the middle berm, the pathway for the moloch had already been prepared. As the bagger moved from east to west, the road protection elements, consisting of about 2 feet wide, 1 foot thick, 25 to 30 feet long, connected wooden beams, were laid in front of the machine, as it crawled slowly over the temporary pathway. As soon as the bagger had cleared the eastern lanes of the Autobahn, the draglines positioned there, came into action to remove the road protection elements. While waiting on the western lane, going in the southern direction, I witnessed the ant hill activity of trucks being loaded with the road elements, being driven over to the utmost western berm, from my point of view, where they were laid out on the asphalt for the last leg of the bagger’s crossing. While the caterpillar tracks of the bagger slowly moved westwards, two cranes which by that time were positioned on the middle berm started to free the road of its protection. At the same time, a large crew of road workers, were busy sweeping the eastern lane and inspecting the road surface for damages. The workers replaced the temporary road signs and work in progress warning signs and barriers and soon the eastern lane was cleared. Meanwhile, the bagger still slowly moved towards the western berm, where it had to make a sharp turn to the south. This also, to apparently make room for all the cranes and trucks that followed in its pathway. As the bagger turned it was magnificent to see how its arms swept through the sky. Soon the cranes lift the last road protection elements, loaded trucks moved into the hillside and the cleanup crews started to do their job on the western lane of the Autobahn. As a spectator I thoroughly enjoyed the entire spectacle. Also had the impression some motorists had specifically chosen to pass this part of the freeway at that time. It was almost as being a part of a diorama in the fashion that Ken built on his layout. This vid definitely evoked some memories of the experience. Love the job he did on the TT 1:120 scale bagger model. Just imagine that machine being a 1/3 bigger on his layout. He did an absolute marvelous job on this scene. Love the vid, looking forward to your next episodes. Cheerio
