@@cookiescody they say lobsters are tougher and nots as sweet the older and bigger they get, but I’ve had 4 pound lobster and it was delicious. Yeah a little more tougher than younger lobster but not enough difference for me to care. Old male lobsters (or females with eggs on them) aren’t supposed to be kept. They are supposed to be notched and thrown back because they are responsible for fertilizing most of the females and keeping the numbers up.

You can totally tell that mud crab hasn't had to worry about sh*t until this moment. Does anyone else remember the show Big Fish, Down Under, with Malcolm Florence? I loved that show! It came on back in the 80s on PBS. I used to have it all recorded on several VHS cassettes, but I don't know what happened to them. On one episode, he went to a place off the east coast of Australia called Lizard Island with his son and they caught several mud crabs there and cooked them over the fire. I loved that show! The opening theme song was epic!

Yep, we put them in fresh water with an oxygen air hose for 24 hours BEFORE eating them. It cleans them out of all river garbage. Water turns brown every time. I won't eat anything that hasn't been filtered now .. Oysters and clams too. The meat tastes sooooo much better.

Brings back memories of going crabbing as a child using a crab net and millet for bait while on holiday. We didnt eat them, they went straight back into the water. I liked the taste of them when I was younger. However, when I was about nine or ten, my family went out on a friend's yacht. I recall looking down into the galley and seeing crabs jumping out of the pot every time the lid was lifted. I don't know if this affected my perception of crabs or not, but to this day, I can't eat them. Lobster, too. I just don't like them as food. Strange since I have no problem with shrimp, prawns etc. Scallops & clams are ambrosia imo though.
